Every time I look at that picture, I feel as though I'm looking in a mirror.

I feel bad about it, but this is all I could think about when I saw the headline:

"It never occurred to me it might be a bad idea."

He didn't think paying one of his employees for sexual favors was a bad idea?

I love that there's an attorney out there named "John Butters."

Fun Fact: Goiter is from the Sand Mountain region of Alabama. When going to visit his family for the first time, the only preconceived notions I had about the area were horrible ones from a book about snake-handling churches (Salvation on Sand Mountain) I had to read for a Folklore class in college.

If only the shit that goes on down there were nothing more than folklore.

No reply here. Just wondering. I am going to be in Atlanta in the new year. And have always wanted to see New Orleans. Is a drive thru Alabama worth the adventure. I will bring my passport and proof of Anglo Saxon decsent will that be enough?

Seriously, I'd love to see the Gulf coast. Any recommendations?

I don't really have any coastal recommendations. I lived in the northeast corner of Alabama. We didn't venture south very often. The exception was karate tournaments. Those were often in Gulf Shores and Eufaula. Both places sorta felt the same to me. I went with a friend to Orange Beach as an adult, but my main memory of it was how much it reminded me of Gulf Shores and Eufaula.

Before the karate tournament, my only exposure to beach towns was Myrtle Beach. It was a frequent destination for me when I used to go visit my father in the summertime, back in my earliest days living in the US. Just as Orange Beach had reminded me of Gulf Shores and Eufaula, Gulf Shores and Eufaula had reminded me of Myrtle Beach. Maybe it's just an Southern Beach Town thing. All seems kinda samey in my memory. Just this strip of condos out in the middle of nowhere dotted by Ron Jon-type shops, amusement parks, go karts, and bungee attractions.

I always wanted to go to Mobile, which likes to go on and on about how it's the home of the original Mardi Gras/US Carnival (can't remember if there's merit to this claim or even if I've ever checked to see if there's any merit to this claim), but it never happened. Probably never will.

I might could give you some recommendations for attractions a bit farther north. Do you plan to keep to the coast, or are you planning a sort of diagonal from Atlanta to New Orleans?
