Current Annoyances

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Makes sense.

We couldn't understand why the OB/GYN wanted to send us home after he confirmed Jubboiter's existence. Sure, Jubbers was only a month pregnant, but we assumed (rightly) the birth was fewer than nine months off. Jubbers could have popped at any moment. Nine months is a negligible slice of time, after all.

Of course, Jubboiter was a special case. It's a miracle Jubbers didn't give birth to her before she got pregnant.

If Springsteen had thought about getting her pregnant, she may have. Dude's got powers.

Speaking of Jubbers and Springsteen, I'm fairly certain that the words HUFFY FLOUNCE at the top left hand corner of this page are in the exact same font as the cover of Springsteen's Wrecking Ball album. The white on black is for sure a match. Kudos, Jubbers. I always appreciate a subtle Springsteen homage.

Current Annoyance

Comcast. Motherfucking corrupt, incompetent, monopoly called Comcast.

I've suspected since late fall/early winter that they've been tinkering with my Netflix streaming, as the streaming quality has gotten noticeably worse but ONLY on Netflix. Amazon Prime & basically every other channel on my Roku stream just fine. Crystal clear, even. Yet there have been suspicious streaming issues on the one service who most directly competes with Comcast's entertainment/cable wing, so I've suspected throttling. This seems to confirm that.

Estate Agents. They attempt to thwart the Dalty-Cave at every turn. They are my nemesis.

I only have one nemesis though. I'm not Bruce freakin' Wayne!

My football team, Liverpool.

They beat the local rivals 4-0 in the derby, then best the then league leaders, Arsenal, 5-1.

Tonight they are currently drawing with Fulham who are bottom if the league 2-2. Fucking hell!

Current Annoyance

Soccer. No sport should be allowed to end in a 0-0 tie. That's just...wrong.

Depending on the kind of match it was, the 0-0 tie might be more interesting to watch than the 5-1 ass-whomping.

Just because American sports are designed for those with the attention span of a goldfish with sponsors to satisfy is no need to foist your lack of sporting sophistication on the worlds #1 sport Adam.

2-3 away win to Liverpool. Thank fuck for that!!!

I imagine they can get pretty exciting when you're one of the participants.

I'm in Chicago for a job interview, which is happening in about 14 hours. It's freezing fucking cold and I have no idea where anything is. Also, I got my mustache waxed off and now my lip is numb and bright red. Really hope that goes down overnight.

Also, I haven't posted in like... four years, so. Hi!

Greetings! I moved to Chicago 9 months ago, and there are still areas I have no clue where to place them on a map. There are so many neighborhoods and subneighborhoods I can't keep everything straight. I live in Lakeview, but I also live in Graceland ... and my address is Chicago. It's like there was no plan to the whole thing!

Thanks! Maybe you can give me some newbie advice if I actually get the job.

My interview is now in five hours, and I woke up at about 4:30 because my body hates me and wants me to be unhappy. Current annoyance: when I'm stressed out and I try to sleep, my stomach churns all night and I wake up STARVING TO DEATH but I'm too fidgety to sit down and eat anything. After this interview I'm going to gorge myself on a Chicago dog.

What are good questions to ask during an interview? I know I can Google that, but I was wondering if anybody had tips. Better yet, has anyone in here ever hired or fired someone?

I went to bed at about two last night, and Jubboiter woke me up at five. I was never quite able to get back to sleep.

Good luck on the interview, spammy. I'm pullin' for ya.

I've never hired or fired. I'm not even sure how employable I am at this point, so I doubt I'd have any worthwhile advice.

Dalty's fired. He might know some stuff. You'll have to convert any advice he gives you from English to American, of course.

I thought you were a vegetarian, Spammy. Unless that's some sort of euphemism for something else...

Also, hi. And good luck!

I've hired and fired, and been fired and hired.

Trying to get promoted, now. With little luck.

If it makes any difference, you're only a handful of posts away from a huffyflounce.com promotion.

Depending on what kind of job it is and who is interviewing you, a good question to ask is what the person interviewing you enjoys about working at the company, i.e., what is their favorite aspect of working there. It shows that you are interested in the work environment and that you are seriously thinking about what it would be like to work there.

At least that's what I've heard.

I always ask them to bring to life my first week, month with the company. What would be the first things they would ask me to do? Which projects would I be pointed at first etc. etc. ?
