So tough, any illness affecting the brain. My MIl had a stroke before she died, and she really wasn't the same person after. Probably one of the hardest things I've had to do, watch my husband deal with it and not really be able to help. I hope you have siblings or other family to lean on.

The weird thing is that I am kinda glad the tumour will end it faster than having to watch the dementia chip away at him..... and then I feel like a git for thinking that!

Believe me, no one who has watched the slow, painful, inevitable decline of a loved one has not wished for a quicker end and then felt guilty for it. And many times that's what the sick one would prefer, too. I hope whatever remaining days he has are pain-free and filled with love and comfort.

My father is in a similar position, stroke + dementia. Has aphasia so communication is extremely hard. He talks, but all that comes out is mostly gibberish. Going back to Ohio next week to see him for his 76th birthday. Haven't seen him in 6 months so it will interesting to see how much he's changed.

RIP Dad.

He passed yesterday afternoon. Mum was with him when it happened.

That's awful news. We're here for you if you need us.

Cheers matey.

To be honest, with the advancing dementia robbing him of his own existence while he was still alive, with the attendant impact on Mum, it's a bit of a release.

We all have to go sometime. At peace and out of pain is not a bad thing, and I hope you and your family find comfort in remembering happier times.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Dalty. I know that it's not much of a consolation, but at least his struggle is over. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I increasingly worry about my own Dad's state of mind. Memory loss, lack of concentration etc. Nowhere as near as bad as he thinks it is, but bad enough. He had a traffic accident recently, colliding with a large van that just "came out of nowhere(famous last words)." Matter of time...

Has he been checked out Spacey? There is stuff that can cause these things that aren't necessarily dementia.

Dads funeral tomorrow. 33c in U.K. and have to wear a suit. Of course..... there are other things I am dreading more.

My grandmother had a wreck yesterday. Was hit on the driver's side while pulling out onto a road. Claimed to have looked both ways. Like your father, said the other driver "came out of nowhere."

Apparently, there *were* some visibility issues, and the other driver was from out of state, was lost, and was "just flying." The other driver was in a small car, and my grandmother was in a Trailblazer, so the damage to my grandmother was less severe than it could have been. She has a big bruise on her elbow and a stiff neck. Other driver is fine. Grandmother acknowledges fault, will pay for repairs.

I nearly did that when I was about 21. Looked left, looked right...... probably looked straight at the car and for some reason didn't register it, and pulled out! Luckily it swerved and missed. But I know I looked and didn't see it! Brain is a funny thing.

The one time I got broadsided coming out of a parking lot, it was just after dusk and the lady was driving her husband's truck and had the plow attachment blocking the headlights. I admittedly was in a hurry and looked too fast to see her, but the blocked lights meant no ticket. Also meant the force of the collision was spread out between the four points of the plow, so minimal damage to car and none to me. Still pretty unsettling, though.

Hope there's a/c at the memorial, Dalty. Or cool libations after.

Dad's been checked out and is mostly fine, rhanks. He has mild whiplash but that's about it. If my mom had been in the passenger's side, however, she may have been killed.

The funeral was every bit as horrible as I imagined it would be. It was a beautiful funeral..... but horrible!

I feel for you Dalty. Just visited my dad, and in 6 months he's gone from being somewhat mobile and vocal to just sitting in a wheelchair and not talking. He can barely hold his head up. Sad thing is, there are moments when he's there, responding to questions or being active doing things like drinking a soda, and the rest of the time he's just sitting there drooling. I honestly don't know how my mom deals with it. Luckily, she's got him in a great facility but it appears it's just all down hill from here.

I find these types of articles not only annoying, but also kind of sad:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the ... this-week/

It just seems like liberals are clutching at straws to show how Trump is failing and losing the support of his base. I doubt it's going to be that easy. The man has recovered from far worse situations. This is the kind of attitude that lost the Democrats the election.

Current Annoyance

A week ago, I tore my asshole ejecting a particularly stony baseball of feces from my body. Every day since, I've wondered if that day would be the day I stopped shitting blood. So far, no day has been that day.
