The Fast & Furious Thread

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

IT MAKES NO SENSE AND I MUST SOLVE IT!
Spoilers for #3, #4, #5, and #6 follow.

Han's not alive at the end of #3. They make a pretty big deal of him dying in #3. I think they even use the motor from the car he was killed in for Lucas Black's character's final racer. Where did you get that Han was still alive? (Maybe I'm having pronoun trouble. Maybe the "he" of "he's alive at the end of #3" is for some other character.)

Han's death in the stinger at the end of #6 is a flashback to his death in #3. The driver who kills him isn't revealed in #3. The stinger at the end of #6 reveals that the guy driving the car who killed Han was the character played by Statham. This means that everything that happens in #4-#6 was a prequel to #3. You point out that the Diesel character shows up in the stinger for #3. I assume we will learn that he was there to recruit the Lucas Black character for #6/#7/to help them get the Statham character.

Statham plays the brother of #6's main bad guy. The Statham character's murder of Han, I'm presuming, is retaliation for the death of his brother in #6.

I'm assuming Statham's character's brother is killed in #6. Haven't seen it. I've only seen #3, #5, and the stinger from #6, but all the above seemed pretty clear to me.

I believe I got it from the place where I've seen Tokyo Drift once in a room and was paying quarter attention at best.

It's how I watch all of these movies on DVD, Goiter. A quarter of my attention at a time.

So place them in order for me then. Is it 1, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5?

Sounds like you need to be a little less in control while watching them.

1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3

The stinger at the end of #6 occurs about two-thirds of the way through #3. The stinger at the end of #3 probably occurs somewhere in the timeline for #7, since we've gotten a glance of Lucas Black in one of the trailers for #7.

Can we for sure rule out 3 & 4 occurring simultaneously? Perhaps in some sort of Fast & Furious version of The Tori Paradox?

We can if you trust the actor who played Han to be honest about the series's timeline. Otherwise, I don't know. I wasn't joking when I said I'd only seen #3, #5, and the stinger at the end of #6.

This is why I was confused as to why Adam was confused. It was pretty straightforward. Although I can get on board the 3 & 4 at the same kinda time thing.

Why do I care? Damn you Skoglund (shakes fist)

Also: Am I the only one familiar with the Tori Paradox? I find it legitimately fascinating.

I thought it was less a paradox and more that the Tori episodes got shuffled in among the earlier fifth season episodes when it finally aired.

I am sick of the Tory paradox in the UK. Is this different?

Good question. How can it hurt so much yet feel so good? Only women will ever know.

I feel like there's just an untapped mountain of TV shows to be built around the Tori Paradox.

What if Joey and Chandler hung out with an entirely different group of friends when they weren't spending time with Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe?

What if Fonzie was idolized by an entirely different group of nerds who were jealous of his orgies with Pinky Tuskedaro and Co.?

The possibilities are endless.

I find the the Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis slightly more intriguing.

Not unheard of, everyone has two or more 'groups' of friends.

I am scared, Adam, that if I click on your links I will find something else new to care about that I didn't want to. Like this franchise.

It's self preservation.

Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode with a similar premise? Elaine gets a second set of friends who kind of resemble Jerry, George, and Kramer, but they behave differently.

There was. It's called "The Bizarro Jerry." It's from Season 8. Jubbers hasn't quite gotten to it, yet.
