Adam Handpicks Boss Songs to Learn Mal What He's Missin'

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

If you're talking Springsteenesque social commentary, I suggest "Goodnight Saigon" as a better alternative:

And if you want Boss-like tales of ordinary life, then "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" is superb:

I briefly considered "Goodnight Saigon," but I've always found it a dreary and uninteresting listen. And the chorus of voices in the comrade-y/"And we would all go down together!" bridge are silly.

While I've always found the pop sound of "Allentown" unsuited to its subject matter. Both are representative of that aspect of his career, though.

This may be more impressive: I saw him in concert at Wrigley last year, and 30+ years on he can still hit the octaves in this song:

I dig that element of it. It's clearly a conscious choice on his part. (A hearty "No duh!" is an appropriate response to this. He wrote the song and the music, after all.)

I'm a sucker for songs that do this. Lou Reed's "Perfect Day," U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday," and Sean Lennon's "Dead Meat" do variations on it. I like them, too.

The dude does still have some impressive pipes. He put them on display, recently, during that loop app thing he did with Fallon.

I've never seen him live. My father talked about the two of us going to see him when he and Elton John were co-headlining, but it never panned out.

I'm guessing "cab rank" is something that holds meaning for Brits and people who have lived in Britain.

That's a total Ipsy post.

For once, I don't mean it's lazy. I mean Ipsy often defaults to the "You're a[n] X!" as a consciously weak comeback. (I think he thinks there's humor in its being consciously weak. Not sure.)

Ipsy's also a big Family Guy fan who still (by which I mean as recently as earlier this week) makes Family Guy references. He does this as though he believes it's something other people still do, too. For all I know, Ipsy's consciously weak "You're a[n] X!" comeback is also a Family Guy reference.

It occurs to me that I never got around to assembling a Neil Young primer for Adam.

Does Adam even need a primer? Is Adam deeply stained or difficult to adhere to?

You already know that the answer to both of those questions is "Yes."

His previous owner appeared on more episodes of The X-Files than all but three characters.

I've begun the assembly in earnest. Once I post it, I'll have to remind Adam that this place exists.
