Good commercial, terrible product.

It was like a one-minute version Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

I remember a German commercial from 1999 or 2000 that was pretty entertaining and pretty weird. It featured some schlub following Dennis Rodman around. He would materialize whenever Rodman was in some kind of private moment (in the shower, in bed with a woman), and he would say, "Hey, Dennis Rodman! Fix me a chicken sandwich!" The thing that was most bizarre about it was that none of it seemed to have anything to do with the product being marketed.

I think maybe it was an H&M commercial. The Germans must not have been as amused by it as I was, because I'm not having much luck finding it.

That's the one! Looks like it was H&M, after all. It wasn't a chicken sandwich he wanted, though. That's probably one of the things that was goofing up my search results. It also didn't even occur to me that I should have tried searching for "Hennes" and "Mauritz."

I suppose the very loose connection of the commercial to the retailer is that the guy is wearing Rocky-brand "Bad Idea Jeans" (AVAILABLE AT H&M), and he's pestering Dennis Rodman. The commercial, leaning heavily on Rodman's bad-boy reputation, suggests that doing this is a "bad idea."

Now I'm wondering if the commercial is parodying/giving a nod to this fairly famous SNL parody commercial:



I'd always assumed there was no such thing as "Bad Idea Jeans" back when was running this, and I'm still more or less convinced this is the case. I'm not going to look it up. If someone else wants to, be my guest.

The competition between phone companies is getting serious. First T-Mobile had that retaliation ad during the Super Bowl featuring Steve Harvey and now Verizon is going after Sprint with Ricky Gervais.

Oh, and phone manufacturers are betting on star power as well.

The Statham one is playing over here across all channels. It's pretty good.
