UK Election Time

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

I used to drink Labatt's all the time, but now apparently it is no longer the "cool" beer to drink. So I drink it ironically from time to time to show people that I am not concerned about being cool, and that is itself a form of "coolness."

Which is kind of a "laboured" way of thinking about it.

Is it no longer cool to drink because it falls under the AB-InBev umbrella?

I imagine so. I do not know, however.

AB-InBev sounds like an investment bank.

Dalty, how much trouble is David Cameron actually in right now? Is this going to be enough to force him from office? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/po ... 74611.html

That's what I figured, but I wasn't sure. You guys have much higher standards for politicians than we do, so I thought maybe the shot to his credibility might be damaging enough to force him out.

Tax avoidance isn't a crime. Tax evasion is.

Personally, with our tax regime, I don't blame many people who do it for personal reasons. Corporate tax avoidance on the other hand.....

What's the distinction between avoidance and evasion?

Tax avoidance is legally using vehicles such as trusts to limit tax exposure. Evasion is just not paying tax legally due - like cash in hand not declared through a companies accounts.

Of course, it gets framed by the opposition press as a class war type caper, rather than a damning indictment of our tax system.
