What Are You Watching Right Now - The Watching Dead
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

This is a very good example of why I tell people I'm not really a loyal Democrat, I just vote for them because we've only got two choices and the other is fucking insane.

I saw that, I remember I enjoyed it, but I don't remember a damn thing else about it.

It's a decently entertaining flick that kind of epitomizes the "soft reboot."
I'm sure more knowledgeable minds than mine can answer this, but is the X-Men reboot intended to perhaps pave theh way for an eventual merger with the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

No. It was meant to de-Ratner-ize the Singerverse. It was the quickest and easiest way to bring back the Stewart version of Professor X and the Marsden version of Cyclops.
Fox and Disney aren't even close to reconciling. Not as far as I've heard, anyway.

There was talk of Deadpool into Marvel-verse? Or was that just fanboy wishes?

Fanboy wishes, mostly, though there is some dispute over whether he's a "mutant" or a "mutate." Some insist that determining him to be a "mutate" could give Disney some wiggle room.

Re: What Are You Watching Right Now - The Watching Dead
Blood's really bad between the two. Fox has repeatedly denied Disney (cinematic) access to the characters. In retaliation, Disney has blocked Fox from selling X-Men movie tie-in toys. Disney has also been systematically cutting mutants and X-Men out of their comics and replacing them with Inhumans. Some say that Fox made the new FF movie intentionally shitty (by making big cuts to Trank's--according to him, at least--far superior original version) in response to Disney's retaliation. It's all pretty petty, and it's all pretty amusing.Dalty wrote:Fucking lawyers. Sony are cunts, and if Sony can manage it.....
I feel like I've written about all this before.

Yeah - and I have to deal with stuff like this shit all the time at work (just not about something as fun as movies) and it's amazing how often a consensus builder who isn't a total cock-womble can wade into the middle, smooth the path, and create a win-win situation out the back end. I genuinely think that 99.9% of people who work in Hollywood have issues.

Deadpool just made a ton of money, so any leverage Disney might have had following the Fantastic Four reboot is gone.

New X-Men soon as well. If that goes well there will be a Fox Comic Cinematic Universe with a "Hard R" Fantastic Four reboot!

I think everybody knows what I'm watching this weekend, though I'm trying to pace myself by alternating that with Judd Apatow's Love on Netflix. Pretty good stuff, both of 'em.
