When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. So I was thinking of watching Dark Skies on the Netflix. Is it worth it? Anyone seen it?

Ah, but if you're not in the theaters, can you truly have "Sensurround"?

I'm watching Arrow and debating whether it's jumped the shark. For some reason, every villain in the known universe seems to want to take over some podunk stupid town that keeps getting trashed by the previous villain. And the flashbacks and mythology keep getting more convoluted. I may drop this in a few episodes if it doesn't start giving me something different.

I turned my bass bin right up and put it against my couch to recreate that 70s feeling! Still not a patch on Towering Inferno. That movie really is the daddy of disaster movies.

Haven't started this season of Arrow yet. I consider myself forewarned.

"Experimenter: The Stanley Milgram Story," about the psychologist who did experiments showing that people would administer heavy shocks when directed by an authority. Some interesting direction and design choices, kind of highlighting the artifice of film, and maybe the experiments and the nature of perception itself. Pretty thought-provoking, if weird. And nice to see Winina Ryder not relegated to an old-lady role, she's actually playing younger than her age.

Whoa. I'll watch it just for that.

I still think her (necessary) withdrawal from Godfather: Part III is one of the greatest shames in cinematic history. It's also a shame Duvall wanted more money, but the Mary Corleone character was a lot more necessary to the story than the Hagen character was. And George Hamilton was a decent enough replacement. All his or Duvall's character ever really does is stand around and whisper the occasional something in the boss's ear.

I was going to update my X-Files re-watch progress, but I'll wait for Dalty's Dead-gasm to run it's course.

Man, X-Files Season 9 is sad. The mytharc is just so incredibly weak. The monster-of-the-week episodes are still pretty decent, but it's clear that they had no real idea where to take the show after Duchovny's departure.

What's worse is that they're trying to tie Mulder's absence into the plot, but all that does is just to remind the viewer that he's gone and the show isn't the same. It feels as if nothing is really moving forward. They probably should have just focused on building something new around Doggett and Reyes.

It's pretty great up until season 7, and even big portions of season 8 are very well done. I think they try pretty hard to make the audience warm up to Doggett, and it works. I think I prefer a lot of the season 8 monster-of-the-week episodes to those in season 7 (which were often a bit too cutesy).

It's probably just the writers' attempt to keep developing the Mulder character in Duchovny's absence that falls completely flat in the ninth season. In my opinion, the show is at its best during that season when it leaves the limelight to Doggett and Reyes.

I think we still have six episodes to go until the two-part series finale. On the one hand, I'm kind of sad that it will be over soon, but on the other hand, it's probably for the best. And there's more X-Files on the way in January, after all. :)

Here's a thing I just watched:

(Note: I only watched the four-minute preview. I didn't watch the full episode. The full episode has yet to air.)
