New car shenanigans

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

The Swollen Goiter of God wrote:"The X-type that isn't shit" could have a pro-Jaguar meaning or an anti-Jaguar meaning--in U.S. American English, at least. ("Ain't shit" is how we'd usually say it to convey the anti-Jaguar meaning, but "isn't shit" is an acceptable, less ain'tsy alternative. We'd probably say "shitty" instead of "shit" to convey the pro-Jaguar meaning. Well, we would have a decade ago. A lot of Britishisms have seeped into U.S. American speech in the last decade or two. Thanks to the Internet, probably.)

I'm glad these aren't real ads. They feel like the car ad equivalent of a rich white guy kicking a homeless person.

Solely based on looks, if you're gonna buy a Jaguar XE, you might as well just go with something like a Volvo S80. #JaguarsUsedToLookCool

Don't you just love it when car brochures include seat belts, seats and a steering wheel under "equipment" !!

There's an idea. Get yourself a VW Golf. Just be sure it's not one of those controversial regulations violators.

That doesn't happen to real people looking at real car brochures. That only happens to Daltys shopping for money pits designed to appeal to bachelors.

VW Golf GTi would tick a box. Maybe I will go to VW tomorrow. Deals to be had/done after the..... ahem.... issues.

Although the Audi was bloody lovely.

The last one has me puzzled. What am I supposed to take away from it? Is the suggestion that Mac and PC are slow and unsophisticated and that the Audi representative is leaving them in the dust? I mean, like, the Mac and PC guys are supposed to be representing computers. Computers aren't cars. Granted, cars often have computers in them. I'm sure Audis do. Is it about processor speed?

Is it about class? The Audi guy looks like he might be the only guy in the group dressed a step above business casual. If so, why's he so close to the camera?

Maybe the fake ad is suggesting that, as obnoxious and in-your-face as the Mac and PC guys are, Audi's even more obnonoxious and in-your-face? Is Audi marketing notoriously pushy/showy? Am I supposed to recognize this guy based on the small section shown? What's with the PhotoShopped mustache? And why go with a blond one? You can barely see it over the skin tone. Almost looks like some kind of bizarre scar.

Seriously. What's the point of it supposed to be? Am I not getting it because I'm not British/European, or am I not getting it because I'm a doofus? (No, Fake Strider.)
