Transatlantic Care Packages

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Why did nobody tell me of the existence of these "Apple Jacks" before? If anyone wants me I shall be in my kitchen.......... with a spoon.

I remember discovering Apple Jacks for the first time. The love affair lasted maybe a couple of weeks before I got sick of them.

Apple Jack sounds like the next experimental product to be unleashed by the good folks at Jack Daniels.

I remember them fondly from childhood. I think a lot of their market share has been gobbled up by Apple-cinnamon Cheerios, as slightly healthier. Still AJ has a better song:Dalty wrote:Why did nobody tell me of the existence of these "Apple Jacks" before? If anyone wants me I shall be in my kitchen.......... with a spoon.

Re: Transatlantic Care Packages
When it comes to jingles for cereals with "Jack" in the title, I prefer this one:
When it comes to the actual cereal, I'm not sure what I prefer. I remember the taste of Apple Jacks, but I don't remember the taste of Cracker Jack Cereal. I mostly just remember the jingle. The commercial was a real standout for me. It pops up a few times on one of my VHS tapes. It's from 1983, 1984, or 1985. I'd have to find it on a specific tape to know the year.

Even better - Future Ex-Mrs Dalty has declared she thinks Lucky Charms bars are too sweet. More for me!
She loved Cheddar Bay biscuits though. Swings / Roundabouts.

I just had some Apple Jacks - first time in decades. When did half of the Os become green?

Re: Transatlantic Care Packages
I have a friend who is an expat living in Liverpool for the past couple of years and she's always complaining about not being able to get American type food. Usually junk food like Oreos and stuff. Would it be a good business to just import junk food from America and sell it in a store there? Maybe do it for weird Asian snack foods too.

Re: Transatlantic Care Packages
I think I was too old by the time I got to the US to form the associations with Oreo cookies that most Americans seem to have. They're all right, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them. They're really not that great.
I do like Oreo milk shakes, though. I think it's because of the vanilla ice cream.

They have Oreos over there, I thought? I was under the impression they had them in the UK (and I know they now have them in Germany), but I cannot eat the European versions because they have actual milk in the cream.

Re: Transatlantic Care Packages
Many years ago, I had a friend who lived in London and would be very confused when I spoke about Oreos (I'm fat, so I do that sometimes.). He claimed they were not a thing that could be obtained.
He may have been confused. Or wrong. Or stupid.

Oreos are at the center of one of my favorite Jackie breakdowns:

When I lived in London I made my mom bring me the following delicacies: instant oatmeal (for mornings when you've run out of milk), pancake syrup/mix, and Payday candy bars.
Back here, I seek out digestives and Silver Shred.

Oreos are kinda weak sauce amongst biscuits. Other biscuits beat them and steal their lunch money. They are so replete over here I have them in the vending machine in my office.
