Guardians of the Galaxy

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Jubbers arranged a surprise viewing for the two of us today. It was an enjoyable second watch for me. It was a first watch for Jubbers.

I have a crush on Nebula. She survives, right? Or did I miss something.

Nebula gets away.

It's cool that four of us saw it on the same day, and it's cooler still that we all did it a month and a half after it opened.

I managed to keep a surprise from Goiter for a whole week!

Arranged for a pair of our friends to watch Jubboiter and we worked it out so that they would show up around the time Goiter would be planning on going to the Y. They got stuck in traffic, so then I had to stall for a bit ("Do you think I should change pants?" "I just got a message on my phone." slow walking to the car...) and the timing worked out great. They pulled up as we reached our car and then I pulled out my hand-drawn "One Free Pass for Guardians of the Galaxy Today" card (w/ Rocket and Groot on it).

Sweet!

I might wander out and catch it again tonight myself. Stuck in Leeds on business so have to conquer the hotel dwelling/business travel boredom but I am too pussy to call in a prostitute.

I wasn't aware that sort of thing required courage. Then again, I've only gone that route twice in my life.

Unless you count massage parlours. Then, a bit more than twice.

Or lap dances. In which case... hold on, give me a few minutes to do the math.

Ended up partying in.....ahem.... 'Gentlemans Clubs' on a number of occasions with the guys, on Bachelor parties and the like, including one in Malta where there was a damn sight more than just stripping on offer at a price. Those places have always seemed like fairly cheesy fun where the girls know entirely what they are doing - relieving you of money in the simplest way possible. Never been to any of those places in the seedier parts of the world. I guess if I ever saw anyone who looked like they weren't totally in control of their choice to be working there then I would be exiting, sharpish!

Is it a leap from that to paying for sex? I think it is. I am not a prude (I don't think) but I guess I kinda enjoy sex knowing that the person I am sleeping with wants to be doing it because she likes me, rather than being paid.

It's a weird one isn't it. I read interviews with people who sell sex, both males and females, where they say 'Having the time of my life!' And 'Earning more than I ever thought possible' and I say 'Good on them if they are happy and nobody gets hurt!'

Then I read about poor girls and boys trafficked and forced into it and it genuinely upsets me.

Well I don't do that sort of thing anymore. It's just another set of bad habits I've largely done away with--to be replaced with other bad, albeit less sleazy habits.

I believe it's spelled "Hoes." As in, "Bros before hoes."

Ho's would indicate the contraction for "Ho is," as in the sentence, "Ho is about to make Pho for his Hoe."

Neglet will be along soon to see to your punishment.

Actually, the wrestler calls the green chick from Avatar a "whore" at one point, so I guess we're sort of tangentially on topic.

So why isn't "bros" spelled "broes"?

I've seen it both "hos" and "hoes." There has been at least some push to standardize the orthography in the last couple decades, but I'm not sure people consider it an important enough matter to come to any agreement on a larger scale. It seems like maybe people are leaning toward using "hos" when speaking of "whores" and "hoes" when speaking of gardening implements, but it's not as though I'm hopping around on the Internet to get a good sense of things. I mostly stay in my little corner.

Here's this:

http://english.stackexchange.com/questi ... efore-hoes

Wiktionary, Oxford, and Merriam-Webster all list "hos" before "hoes":

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ho
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/ho
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictiona ... 1410960530

It should be noted that both "hos" and "hoes" are deemed acceptable. (Well, the people aren't generally deemed acceptable. Just the spellings.)

Personally, I think it should be "hos." Although I would even prefer ho's over hoes, as ho' is a contraction of whore. Hoes are what you use in the garden.

Although I suppose you could use a ho in the garden, if you lived in the countryside.
