We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

I agree about Hamill in Empire. I think you and I may have had the Hamill-doesn't-get-many-scenes-opposite-humans-in-Empire discussion before.Corporal_Hicks wrote:I think some have the "Tosche station" line delivery singed on their minds. I also think some aren't crazy about his "Luke, I am your father" reaction in Empire, but it has been several years since I've heard anyone complain about that.
Hamill's pretty solid throughout the trilogy. He plays Luke a little too huffy and petulant before he leaves Tatooine the first time, but as the years have passed and I've seen the results of more of Lucas's direction, I've come to the conclusion that Hamill was probably playing Luke exactly the way Lucas wanted him to.
Hamill was twenty-five when he first played Luke. He looks at least that old to me when I watch Star Wars. Lucas clearly wanted him to play younger than his age in those scenes. (You don't say "You can waste time with your friends when your chores are done" to an adult. Not unless you're a douche.) Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't think it's as bad as some people have tried to convince me it is. I don't think it's bad acting so much as it's strange to see a grown man talking this way.

Comedy in the Guardians talkback. Harry writes rambling review opening talking chocolate cake and usual raft of childhood memories that suddenly seem to place Guardians of the Galaxy at the centre of his childhood. You know, the usual. Frankly I am surprised he had any room at all in his childhood for anything normal as there don't seem to have been enough minutes in a day to do all of the shit he has now said he did over the years. Clearly all this geek stuff had already pushed out things like exercise and proper nutrition (cheap shot, I know!!).
One thing he dribbles on about is how he used to dream of this comic and locate Alpha Cenaturi in the night sky whilst thinking of these adventures.
However some science wags in TB have pointed out that Alpha Centauri is in a Southern constellation and could never have been seen from Austin, Texas...... at least not for the past several thousand years.

Re: AICN Ridicule Page
Particular gem come out today. This is from Gunnar Hansen's (Leatherface) autobiography.
"As its reputation grew, more people would cite some connection with the movie.
I discovered that apparently I had appeared as Leatherface at a child's third birthday party. Bob Burns brought me. Writer Harry Knowles wrote about my visit on his website, Ain't It Cool News, on June 2, 2004
He clearly remembered being in his red high chair in front of the dining room table, on top of which sat a cake decorated with Godzilla eating his parents. Then the front door "blew open, and a sound of a chain saw filled the house." I came thundering in in full regalia, carrying a roaring chain saw. Bob followed behind, with a basket full of body-part props from the movie. Bob then gave the child his pick of body-part props---a hand, which Harry says can be seen briefly in the movie. (In a 2009 note referring back to the post, he added that Burns and I had come directly from wrapping Chain Saw, and that Bob gave him a toy saw.)
But of course, I was never at this party. Outside of the movie, I have never appeared anywhere in the Leatherface getup. Nor would I ever want to."

Re: AICN Ridicule Page
I've been thinking about posting his GotG review here.
The funniest part of his review is when he talks about how he'd always appeal to his parents' collection whenever an editor's note would refer a reader to an earlier issue. Yeah, right. Sure, Harry. We believe you can read and count.

I just read . . . some of it. Then I read the comments; some of them almost made me choke to death with laughter.

When he was just a child-like fantasist it was not an issue. Now he appears to be a thief and a fraudster it's less of a, as he would put it, 'giggle' !
Where's the Kickstarter money Harry?

Can you believe they have the brass balls to advertise another Kickstarter (Free Enterprise) on AICN now as well?

Here's some good stuff:
Harry says EXPENDABLES 3 throws in the kitchen sink & it helps!
You'll note that a(n alleged) Kickstarter contributor threatens legal action in the Talkbacks.

Go here to see Harry wait until the last line of a eulogy to give readers the name of the person he's eulogizing.

Sometimes I think people pile on Harry just because, but that one really is bad.
Like one of the first Talkbackers said, I too had to read it 3 times just to figure out who had died. I swear I kept missing the name.

Sometimes I think he does it deliberately and it's all an epic wind-up. But that might be too much credit.

Re: AICN Ridicule Page
Look at Knowles's shitty attempt at damage control for his buddy's shitty movie:
Harry may be crazy about SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR - but so may you
It should be noted that Rodriguez is one of the big names who contributed either $5,000 or $10,000 (I forget which) to Harry's Kickstarter in its eleventh hour.
