We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Advanced Warfare
Biggest barrier is the fact that my PS3 is also my BluRay player, and the whole system is plumbed in behind the wall with hidden cables into my flat screen system etc. I don't want to give up my PS3...... but don't have a spare HDMI cable hidden in there!!!

Re: Advanced Warfare
I haven't played COD since COD2 I think. I got sucked into the Battlefield series. I prefer it since it has more destructive environments. There's nothing like blowing up a wall with C4 or an RPG to kill someone. It's getting decent reviews, but it's not enough to make me jump to the next gen consoles.

I bought Battlefield 3 second hand but really struggled to get into it.

Re: Advanced Warfare
yeah, I can't remember the last time I played a FPS campaign. I might eventually end up doing the BF4 one just because you can unlock weapons for multiplayer.

Re: Advanced Warfare
Whatever happened to the Unreal Tournament franchise? I used to love playing those games. The weapons were far more interesting than the realistic stuff in CoD or Battlefield.

Re: Advanced Warfare
I have reverted back into a simpleton when it comes to FPS's.
I found Battlefield 3 to be quite an immersive experience when played with a solid group and when you have time to play multiple games in a row (depending on game type, some matches can last up to 45 mins). If you try to go lone wolf in some of those massive 16 vs 16 games it's very easy to get lost in the shuffle. I gave it up because I typically only have 45 mins to play at a time, and I did not want to waste that time playing 1 match.
Anyway, back to being a simpleton, I still find pleasure in the COD games, particularly the campaigns, because they are short, dumb, and do not require that much of a time investment to proceed. The COD multiplayer is the same way. I would never recommend them to someone as "good games", but if you're strapped for time and need something kind of mindless then they are perfect.
I still really like the Halo franchise. While Halo 4 was a bit of letdown, I still enjoyed its multiplayer.
I absolutely adore the campaign AND multiplayer on Halos 2 & 3. The campaigns on both are some of my favorite stuff ever, and I truly feel like they are classic, timeless games. I can't say that about anything COD.

Re: Advanced Warfare
I always found the COD campaigns most entertaining with my "movie fan" hat on. Still enjoy them, particularly COD4.
I found Battlefield kinda exhausting and just not as polished as COD.
The online multiplayer in all of them was a bit of a bust. Buy the game on day 1 and invest some time and you are kicking ass. Not have the time then rest a while and come back later and you have people with far superior weaponry and mastery of maps killing you all over the place.
So I like to go back to campaign and ratchet up the difficulty.
Maybe just me?

Re: Advanced Warfare
I haven't played COD games in a long time, so I don't know if the whole unlock system is really valid. In BF, especially BF4, unlocking new weapons doesn't really give you much of an advantage. All classes of weapons are generally the same. Some may shoot faster or reload faster, but overall, it's not a big difference. I would say that I agree with the fact that map knowledge is probably the biggest advantage high level players have over noobs. I am level 116 in BF4 and I know all the sniper spots, chokepoints, and ambush spots. That's probably why I have 900+ kills with a claymore, cause I know where to put em and just laugh maniacally when some poor unsuspecting sap hit it as he heads up a set of stairs or walks through a doorway.
