The Fast & Furious Thread

Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

The Super Bowl spot. With it, I'm officially announcing that my retirement from midnight showings is over and I will be there at the first possible moment.

This franchise is kind of turning into The Expendables.

They have officially reached a point where I can only admire them for continuing to get away with this.

I feel like they're finally acknowledging that they aren't taking themselves seriously. The first few were delightful because you just honestly couldn't tell if they were trying to be big, dumb fun or if they were trying to make a serious film about the ever broadening definition of family.

Clearly, based on the trailers thus far anyway, it's 100% big dumb fun and I am completely on board.

I think they genuinely believe this family shit they keep preaching, which will go into overdrive (pun intended) when they get round to dealing with poor Paul Walker.

Oh, believe me, at the risk of sounding morbid, seeing how they handle his death is probably the main reason I'm looking forward to 7 & 8.

I should also clarify, when I said "first few" up above, I really meant 1, 2, & 4. Tokyo Drift kind of exists in it's own world, or at least it will until 7.

Relatedly, if anybody has a link to a good analysis of the Fast & Furious chronology, please share. I'm kinda stumped by it.

I think they'll just quietly slip Lucas Black in to fill his position.

I had this thought that the Walker character would die/be murdered in a stinger, same as SPOILER: Han. It would depend on how sensitive his family was to the idea of the whole thing.

Speaking of SPOILER: Han, Adam, are you a big enough fan of the series to have sought out SPOILER: Justin Lin's Better Luck Tomorrow?

Of course 8, Dalty. Diesel wants to do at least another trilogy's worth.

And Goiter, I can't say that I have, but I've heard nothing but good. I'll bump it up the queue.

Of course he does. Ain't getting paid no other way. Hence his return in the first place. Left the franchise like Johnny Big Bollocks - "see you, off to better things!" - then discovered he couldn't open an envelope if it didn't have the words Fast or Furious in the title so came back like he's some kind of franchise messiah. Smooth.

Didn't Vin Diesel make The Iron Giant after leaving Fast and Furious behind? That's his best work AND it's also another candidate for Dalty's novelty pr0n name.

Also, spoiler alert: Vin's back by #3. It's an incredibly intriguing cameo which may go a long way towards solving the chronology of the entire series.

Iron Giant was a (very) late nineties joint. It predated the Fast and Furious series.

But he's alive at the end of #3 and dead at the end of #6 as the result of a crash during what is basically a shot for shot remake of the last street race in Tokyo Drift! Then Vin Diesel walks in at the end of the race, but at the end of #6...he's in Los Angeles. With his family at the house in the 'hood.

IT MAKES NO SENSE AND I MUST SOLVE IT!
