January is in full swing at the movies!

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Some dude mentioned on AICN that the tides had turned, and that movie studios had listened to audiences. Why? Because so many of the movies making money in December had such good Tomatometer scores.

Didn't The Nut Job make a small fortune and get a sequel greenlighted in 10 seconds flat?

Hmmm. I just saw "The Invisible Woman," directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes, which just opened at my local art theater. 78% on the Tomatometer. I guess you guys are going to the wrong theaters.

Pfft. Everybody knows that movies with C grades are the pits. Nobody wants average. People want great, or they want terrible. Average is an insult.
December and January are two of the best months for movies--as long as you keep away from all those drawn-out, time-hopping art house dramas. Go great or go terrible. Don't go in between.
They don't sell beers at art theaters because they're progressive. They sell them to help you deal with the dullness of the movies they show.

He pronounces it the old way.
"Ralph" is one of those words whose spelling came to influence people's pronunciation--like with "zoology," but not.
