Captain America: Civil War

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

They've made us care for both sides. It raises the stakes.

Done the team up, better let them fight each other, then kill one of them but don't let the death stick. It's comic law. Ask Captain Smashpants. The second Captain Smashpants that is. Don't ask the first Captain Smashpants. That guy got killed by the Captain Smashpants from the parallel universe that we killed last month.

Did Cap take running lessons from Tom Cruise?

If he did, he took lessons from the guy who was almost Iron Man.

Hard as it is to imagine anyone but Downey Jr in the role, I reckon Cruise could have pulled it off.

I figured I'd revive this guy, since the European reviews are rolling in. So far, it looks like people really like it.

I just texted you about this, Thursty (it's funny how many of the thoughts/discussions we post elsewhere begin with our personal conversations). It's going to have the exact OPPOSITE problem that BvS had, which is obviously a great "problem" to have.
The Russo brothers have really taken the ball from Whedon and run with it.

On December 20, 2019, the Greatest Saga Ever... concludes.

This just makes me more sad about BvS. Because Batman. Because Superman. Just because.

Re: Captain America: Civil War
I'm actually kind of glad BvS has had a predominantly negative reception, and I hope that any further setup they attempt for a Justice League universe also fails, both critically and financially. Maybe that would curb this Hollywood trend of trying to adapt every goddamn comic and cartoon franchise into some kind of elaborate multimedia crossover phenomenon. Yes, Marvel did it with unbelievable success. That doesn't mean you can throw some half-assed shit together in the hopes of generating your own cash cow.
The best thing that came out of the Avengers movies (and most of the individual heroes' movies) is that the bar for this type of thing has been set pretty high.

But then we won't get the Aaron Sorkin shared universe when Steve Jobs returns from the grave to help President Bartlett defeat the evil Mark Zuckerberg, all told from the point of view of the news team trying not to get distracted by a top level court martial about something in Cuba.

Wasn't that the plot of Prison Break?

I still hold out hope for Suicide Squad. It looks pretty entertaining.Mal Shot First wrote:I'm actually kind of glad BvS has had a predominantly negative reception, and I hope that any further setup they attempt for a Justice League universe also fails, both critically and financially.
