What are you reading right now?

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. She's not a chair. She's a Brandi. She's also a cigar. Well, just sometimes.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I'm currently reading "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. While i'm not opposed to cyberpunk I have never been a big fan of the fiction. That said, this is pretty good, doesn't take itself too seriously.
I was also reading "The Bright Forever" by Lee Martin (who recently did a reading at our crappy little town, he seems nice) which I found to feature fine prose but choppy set-up and a fairly boring plot. It won awards I think.
I'm pretty much tired of the 'child dies/goes missing and a small community tears itself apart' genre at this bit.
I'm going to be moving on to "Watership Down" which I have wanted to read for a while now.

Reading Wallace Breemm's "Eagle in the Snow". About the last days of Rome on the Gaulish frontier. It was recommended highly by a bunch of folks over at Goodreads. So far so good. Enjoying the story and the personal details of Roman life near the end of the Empire.

I loved that comic book when I was a kid. I devoured every issue I got my sticky lttle hands on. Same with those old Cool Hand Luke or was it Lucky Luke graphic books? He was a cowboy. He was skinny and smoked all the time. The art in both books were quite similar.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I read most of the Asterix volumes in German when I was a kid. I picked up a couple of new ones after moving to the US, but reading them in English just didn't have the same feel. Even though the originals are in French, I got used to the German translation and the tone of the jokes as they were presented in German.
Lucky Luke was a Belgian-French co-production, if I remember correctly, which would explain the similar look, since the two series came out of the same region of Europe around the same period. I was never all that much into Lucky Luke because the Wild West setting didn't appeal as much to me, but I did read a few volumes here and there.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I read the French editions for both way back in the day. At least I tried too. Family in Montreal brought them down east. I really haven't thought about those books for nearly 30 years. I think my sub conscious buried it as an imagination until Spacey brought it up. Fukin weird.

Re: What are you reading right now?
I have been known to trigger buried memories and emotions in people, often traumatic ones. Usually in women. Frequently during that third or fourth date moment when intimacy is taking place. One good look in these eyes, and the memories flood back. The awful, awful past.
Then there's the screaming, and sobbing. Pleas to be left alone. Ah, well.

Re: What are you reading right now?
So I'm reading two books about the Moon right now. Lost Moon by astronaut Jim Lovell and some other guy(That's sort of a joke). Earthlight, an older book by Arthur Clarke, about a lunar independence movement.
Pretty much already know how the first one ends. Earthlight is an intelligent, if dated work, written in the 50's. Apparently astronomers will still be using negatives and darkrooms 200 years from now.
