We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

He can't stop. It's too dangerous. He has to slow down, first.

She is convinced there will be no action for a couple of weeks now. I am less sure. Official due date is 19/1.

Your recent focus on committing St. Louis rags to memory has made it harder for you to keep waltz time?

£9.99 for the Kindle edition of a newly released book? WTF! I could get the hardback from the bookstore in the mall for that!

Re: Current Annoyances
Found out today that I've lost my insurance. Found out at the doctors office when I attempted to check in for an appointment.
Apparently my workplace has decided that since I 'recently' shifted down to part time I no longer deserve my benefits. The same benefits I've been receiving for the past two years which is how long I've been part time.
I am very annoyed, angry even. Part of me really, really wants to go in tomorrow and slap down my two-weeks notice. Another part thinks that is a bad idea since I have no prospects lined up, or leads, or a real ability to leave the house.
But man, quitting would feel so good.

Re: Current Annoyances
Yeah, the joys of rural life. Benefits for full time only, and no place that actually employs full-timers. Don't like it? Leave the mid-west.
Admittedly, I knew about part-timers receiving no benefits. Partly because I've been part time for two years and receiving benefits the whole time.
Said benefits never kicked in while I was full time, and only actually appeared when I lost my full time position. My boss was aware of this and shrugged.
I've only kept this job because A) health insurance, and B) my home situation makes getting new jobs difficult.
Also, an update.
Today at work I received the 'cancellation of benefits' letter that I was to receive as a warning that they were about to expire. It appears my calls to HR shook something loose. This also prompted our DM to send an email that said simply: "Who is Shawn Campbell?"
I've worked there for 10 years.

Re: Current Annoyances
So Chris Nolan's Dunkirk has been rated PG-13 officially. Argh.
I have no problem with PG-13 movies at all, but some movies need to be unfettered(or at least, less fettered). In particular, war movies.

Cars. Specifically the buying of new ones. The Audi TT has outlived its usefulness now Little Dalty is here so I am looking at sensible family vehicles. In the old days you could go down a list of options and pick what you wanted. Now it's all "Packs" - if you want the panoramic sunroof you have to buy the "Signature Pack" at £1,800 with tinted windows, LED lights and additional styling options. Want Self Park and you have to buy some advanced nav pack with upgraded Bose stereo and some traffic detection bullshit. Why can't I just pick what I want? FFS! And if I want an auto gearbox it's only available on the Diesel engine. Fuck that. Off to the next manufacturer, this one sucks.

Re: Current Annoyances
Dad has dementia and has been going downhill rapidly. Bastard disease. Barely recognised me. Confused my partner with my mum. Unable to speak a lot. Asleep a lot more. Bed ridden and immobile stage. Fades in and out but these days more out. Much more out.
A couple of weeks ago we thought he had a stroke - showing all the symptoms. Tests came up negative for that but they noticed something else. Long story short - aggressive brain tumour, untreatable.
On "end of life" care now. Probably only a couple of weeks at best.

Sorry to hear that Dalty.
It's a horrible thing to have to go through.
