Somebody tell Goiter.....

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

I'm unlikely to make it even that far. No actuary worth her salt would give me more than sixty years.

This song has been on my mind constantly recently because I've been singing portions of the Abbey Road medley to my kid. I usually start with Mean Mr. Mustard and go from there.
You Never Give Me Your Money usually gets stand-alone treatment. Sun King has yet to make an appearance.

Re: Somebody tell Goiter.....
During Jubboiter's first days of postpartum existence, I would sing pretty much all of Side Two, track-by-track, minus the "Here Comes the Sun" opener. It was an easy way to push through long, boring stretches late at night.Mal Shot First wrote: ↑February 10th, 2017, 10:16 pmThis song has been on my mind constantly recently because I've been singing portions of the Abbey Road medley to my kid. I also used to sing "FDR in Trinidad" to Jubboiter a lot. I made a list of the songs I was singing to her the most not too long after she was born, but I no longer have it. I posted it on a colleague's Facebook wall (the colleague had just given birth and was asking others which songs they sang to their kids), so you'd think the Facebook Activity Log's "activity search" feature would find it without much fuss, but I've come to find this search feature to be pretty poor. (It's not a matter of my not entering in the right search terms. On a number of occasions, I've managed to find the material the hard way.)
These days, Jubboiter doesn't let anyone sing. Only she is allowed to sing. If you start singing, she will tell you to stop. If you continue, she will scream progressively louder. It's not a cute thing, and it's not a "sometimes" thing. Jubbers and I can no longer sing when in the presence of Jubboiter.

Luckily, Gmail searches and Yahoo! searches yielded better results. Here's the list, resurrected from the ashes of the e-mail annals:

"1941"
Abbey Road: Side Two medley
"The Banana Boat Song"
"Be My Baby"
"A Change Is Gonna Come"
"Cast of Thousands"
"Cuddly Toy"
"Donald Duck" (theme song)
"Enjoy the Silence"
"FDR in Trinidad"
"Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon"
"Goodbye Stranger"
"Goodnight, Irene"
"High Noon"
"Hold Me Tight"
"Homos"
"I Ain't tha 1"
"If I Ruled the World"
"It Won't Be Long"
"Little Child"
"Lonesome Road"
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"
"My Rifle, My Pony, and Me"
"Not Fade Away"
"Old Man River"
"Outdoor Miner"
"Rip It Up"
"Rocky Raccoon"
"Suicide Is Painless"
"Time of the Preacher"
"Try a Little Tenderness"
"Up, Down, and Touch the Ground"

My son was the same way from about ages 2-4. My favorite is his third birthday party, where the video has him shouting, "Stop singing!" while the whole extended family is trying to sing Happy Birthday. The Swollen Goiter of God wrote: ↑February 26th, 2017, 6:22 pm These days, Jubboiter doesn't let anyone sing. I'm sure Scott Baio is secretly excited to be getting some more media exposure. More media exposure means he gets to says his morally reprehensible bullshit to a wider audience for a week or two.

I'm just thankful I haven't seen any "jokes" about how being in Detroit drove him to suicide. Really tragic.
