Game Of Thrones: Spoiler Thread
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Lots of Red Shirts in that episode. But very, very well constructed and economical storytelling weaved into the money shots.

Holy fuck. I don't care where the White Walkers found giant chains, once I realized they were dredging the lake I was all,"Daaaaaamn." Although a giant trebuchet firing those killer monster ice lances would've been cool, too.

My wife made the same comment, essentially, without the Red Shirts metaphor. Every time someone died, she was like, "Which one was that?" And I'd be like, "Wildling #3, I guess." It didn't seem like they had taken that much cannon fodder with them at the start.
Overall, though, I liked the progression of the episode. Had a bit of a Dirty Dozen feel to it.
And here's to Thoros, that crazy old drunkard with the flaming sword.

The big scene at Winterfell was my favorite twist of the night.
Well, except for the one that put Kit Harington's bum in better viewing position.

Felt a bit rushed for such a major death of a major character who has been on the pitch since day-one. Then again Bran's revelations would have telegraphed it so they were boxed in.
I cannot wait over year!

Re: Game Of Thrones: Spoiler Thread
So, does George R.R. Martin have show runner status or is he no longer involved? The way things have turned out lately, with the exception of Littlefinger's demise, appear rather unlike the author's natural storytelling. The relationship between Jon and Dany seems a bit Hollywood at this point. Something I found Martin avoided. I would expect he would have killed off one of them by this point to avoid a simple love affair. And the drawn out scene at the dragon pit where all the good guys and bad guys meet seems a bit contrived.
I dunno. Just feels different.

He gave them his outlines. Character A goes to point B and activity C causes outcome D etc etc.
