We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Random
I'm doing my best to be balanced, though I suppose there's a possibility that people on either side could come away from things thinking their side is getting the brunt of it or that. (Maybe they'd even be right to think this.) I suppose there's also a possibility that someone might not recognize that one ideology or another is even being criticized, or they might see championing in the place of the intended criticism.
I hope it's at least evident to readers that my criticisms are sloppy and shallow. They're consciously sloppy and shallow, but I know going in that I may not be given the benefit of the doubt where this is concerned. I also realize my conscious sloppiness and shallowness could be met, fairly, with a "So what?" or a "How about something a little more productive and a little less simplistic?" I don't really have a good answer to either of these. I'm not sophisticated enough a thinker for that. The best I can hope for (I was saying this to Jubbers just yesterday) is that a handful of readers will come away wondering whether what they've just read was art or trash.

I watched this recording of a live performance of Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark at the Moon" last night and was struck by his oddly stiff stage presence.
I think I was too young to have seen Ozzy on TV in his younger years, so my main image of him is as an old man on that reality show he had. On the show, he basically moved around the way he does in the video, only more slowly, but I had always attributed his strange way of moving to his age and the years of drug use. Turns out he's just an awkward motherfucker.

Jubboiter is depressed. She misses school. We pushed for summer school, but the school board decided she'd made too much progress to need it. Next year, we're going to get her psychiatrist to write a strongly worded letter insisting that she do summer school--for her mental health's sake, but also for mine.

Go for it - you've got nothing to lose! Except maybe the time it takes to make a video.

Re: Random
Yeah.
Probably just movie/tv reviews at first, occasionally books. The odd current events/political stuff.
All I need is a snappy name.

It turns out "Vegan Libertarian" is already a thing. Shame. Feels like a real grabber/curiosity sparker.

Well, unless "snappy" is now another word for "dorky," I think not, sadly.

I don't really think I am a Libertarian in the "big l" sense anymore. Shh, don't tell anyone. Maybe more of an all-purpose futurist. The Swollen Goiter of God wrote: ↑November 17th, 2017, 3:42 pm It turns out "Vegan Libertarian" is already a thing. Shame. Feels like a real grabber/curiosity sparker.

There it is. "All-Purpose Futurist." It's perfect. It'll get asses in seats.

Now that I think about it, I don't really believe Urkel was an accurate representation of scientifically-inclined African-American youth in the 90's.

Re: Random
I think Urkel would only pass visually for a hipster. His overall manner, nasally voice, genuine scientific aptitude, lack of a trust fund, relatively slight knowledge of the indie music scene, and lack of any real sense of irony would exclude him from most hipster reindeer games.

Re: Random
Me too. I got the beard and the snark, as well as a fondness for indie music. But really only half a hipster. Half assed/hipped?

I wonder if I need a laptop for this venture? Or would a phone suffice. I only ask because my laptop seems to have experienced a brain anyeurism.

A lot of it probably depends on how quickly and comfortably you can type on a phone and how often you think you'll be generating formatting tags.
