We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

The Canadian 80's.Music Appreciation Thread.
The Spoons were a progressive rock group out of Ontario in the early eighties. This video was in regular rotation on much music back in the day. They played top 40 in this country for about ten years. And, god help me, the lead singer was yet another Canadian named Gordon.

Paul Hyde and the Payolas. Great melodic song performed by the guy who went on to produce Brian Adams, Arrowsmith and Bon Jovi. Nice lyrics too.

Here's a song that is way ahead of its time. A Criminal Mind is thoughtful and progressive without falling into the traps of 80's bullshit. Lawrence Gowan never wrote a love song until 25 years into his career. To me, that's an accomplishment. He now leads Styx.

Here's a song that never gets old to me. The hook is real and the chorus locks it home. Never.fails to get me up on a dance floor.
This is quintisentional 80s rock. The big hair, sunglasses and stuffed pants.

It's next to impossible to have a "best of" list without including the premier Canadian to k group April Wine. Those enough old enough to remember the cover of the Harder Faster album will remember this track. So many smoking tunes we worth a listen folks.

I love this figgin song. I seen these guys live back in the eighties and they rocked most on. This song in particular marked them as killer Canadian university touring bands. So many garage bands attempted to cover this tune (yours truly included, thumbing his base to infinity).

I didn't even realize this song was a Canadian gem until like five years ago. Silly, Scotia. This will give you an ear worm. I guarantee it.

Gotta have some maritime flavour while we are at it. This band killed the A&R scene back in the eighties and should have been much bigger than they were. Here's Haywire representing the biggest province in Canada - Prince Edward Island!!!!???

Hey Scotty! I have a feeling I'm going to love this thread. I've been posting a lot of Canadian music over on the thread named DOT. You may or may not agree with some of my choices, but what the hell. CanCon ftw.
