I can't believe it took me this long to make the connection between Zeus and Deus. Son, I am disappoint. But also:


But wait, it gets better! According to Wikipedia:

Zeus is the Greek continuation of *Di̯ēus, the name of the Proto-Indo-European god of the daytime sky, also called *Dyeus ph2tēr ("Sky Father"). The god is known under this name in the Rigveda (Vedic Sanskrit Dyaus/Dyaus Pita), Latin (compare Jupiter, from Iuppiter, deriving from the Proto-Indo-European vocative *dyeu-ph2tēr), deriving from the root *dyeu- ("to shine", and in its many derivatives, "sky, heaven, god").

So the first syllable in the name Jupiter is basically equivalent to Zeus, but the same word was transcribed/transliterated differently by two different cultures.

All the scanners scanned at a measly 50 dpi. Basically, people were insulted. Insulted enough to call the cops. The motel owner was arrested just so the cops could handcuff him and swerve him around, un-seat-belted, in the back seat of the cop car. Banged him up pretty good. Learned him what-for. He's since switched to 600 dpi, which, though dickish, isn't really actionable.
