Holy Shit! IGN is doing Movie Reviews again!!

I had consistently checked their site for movie reviews, but they stopped doing any altogether after The Avengers, for whatever reason. I kept checking for awhile, but eventually gave up going there anymore. Today I was updating my review spreadsheet and couldn't remember the last site I was using for reviews. I thought it was LatinoReview, but when I checked them out their site was different than I remembered, and they gave movies letter grades instead of numbers on a scale. It turns out I was using the wrong site. The site I wanted was JoBlo.com (which I could've found out from my spreadsheet, but I was just going off of memory). But while doing an internet search for the last movie review I thought I'd gotten from LatinoReview, I happened upon a review from IGN. Yippee!

Letter review scores should be a great way of doing it if applied rigorously. All the way through.

Straight to DVD that should never have been made and watching them makes you want to tear your eyes out = Z

Unquestionable masterpiece = A

Competently made but unremarkable = M

We could get behind this!

I don't recall a big movie that IGN did not review. They are also reviewing tv episodes too.

IGN tried to push video reviews on people for a period of time (probably right around The Avengers release), but their readership revolted. Most people just want to see the letter grade (which didn't come until the very end of the vid reviews) and the vid reviews had a tendency to give away the entire movie.

I'm sure he'll do more during the second season. You know, the second season? That thing people shelled out over $100,000 bucks for? That thing that was funded way back in September? That thing we've yet to see any real evidence of besides a fifty-second clip that very well could have been filmed before September?

I presume that embezzling Kickstarter funds is some kind of crime?

Nope. He can do pretty much whatever he wants to do with the money. He isn't obligated to make a single episode with that money.

He went out and bought a new car pretty much right after his Kickstarter campaign was funded. Did he get it with non-Kickstarter campaign money? Maybe, but probably not.

Isn't obtaining money under false pretences like that some kind of crime?

Maybe. Kickstarter pretty much absolves themselves from any wrongdoing. They're just the middleman. They can't be held responsible for users failing to honor their word and use the money to do what they said they'd do. They're like eBay.

So he owed $300k in back taxes. He gets this cash. Suddenly has a new car.

Meanwhile funding reached in September. No sign of a show. No updates online. No comments on the Kickstarter page from anyone from the project for months but plenty of posts online from people claiming they have not received their prize for backing.

Sounds like fraud to me.
