Russia and the Ukraine

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Yup. It'll get much worse before it gets better. Maybe Crimean independence.

It's making all the research I'm doing on Tolstoy's life and times much more timely, that's for sure.

It's more fun to eat them the way you're not supposed to.

Re: Russia and the Ukraine
And this, my friends, is why extending NATO to include former Soviet republics is just a bad idea.

Re: Russia and the Ukraine
We have been led to this point by a series of naive and not so comical fuck-ups. The fact that Palin saw this coming, fucking PALIN, tells you all you need to know.

Did Palin see this coming, or does a blind squirrel just find a nut on occasion?

Re: Russia and the Ukraine
She specifically said that after Georgia, Ukraine would be next.
She also said Africa was a country though. Win some, lose some.

Re: Russia and the Ukraine
Maybe Ukraine should be divided in two. Maybe Crimean independence/reabsorption into Russia is the right way to go. Czechoslovakia was able to separate more or less amicably, perhaps that is the route we should be following here. As with the Middle East, this is not our region, not our primary concern.

Palin Predicted Russia would invade the Ukraine. Half True.

Reading Tom Clancy's final Jack Ryan novel before he died, Command Authority.
It's spooky, the Russian play to the Ukraine in this is almost exactly what is happening in real life.

Did Clancy have foresight, or was what's happening just incredibly predictable?
