Amazing Spiderman 2

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Amazing Spiderman 2

Post by omicron »

So it opened today. Getting some pretty middling reviews. I have little desire to see it. I spent all morning thinking about the first one and honestly couldn't remember the villain in it or how it ended. I still don't think I totally remember the movie.

Honestly, much more excited for X-men at the end of the month.

I'd like to see it, but only out of habit and a love for going to the movies.

The only unreleased summer movie I'm excited about is Guardians of the Galaxy.

I wish they could actually do time travel then take Garfield today back and cast him instead of Maguire. Other than that, I am not too interested in this particular sequel of a reboot.

Spidey is my favorite, so I will probably see it, but I'm not encouraged by the reviews.
The summer movie I am most geeked for is "The Fault in Our Stars," although it is not your typical summer movie.

Is that book worthy of all the hype, negs? I've been quite curious about that one.

I've thought about giving it a read. I like the Brothers Green.

I've enjoyed all of John Green's books, but "Fault" is the first one without a magic pixie dream girl. It's funny, heartfelt without being mawkish, and a spot-on portrait of first love.

Goiter, wanna start a Huffy Flounce summer book club with this one? A friend up here has been after me for some time now to read it and I'm definitely quite curious.

You can start it if you want. I'm in the middle of reading three other things. I'll only be able to participate in reading the Green book if I can secure a free copy.

So I saw Spidey 2 tonight, and it was too long and the action too frenetic, but I love Garfield in the part and his chemistry with Emma Stone is fantastic. So I enjoyed it, although I didn't love it.

Kinda sucks that the two biggest Marvel properties, Spidey and X-Men, are not part of the Marvel movie-verse. :(

It does. If they weren't the biggest, maybe Sony and Fox would have let the rights revert back to Marvel. I'm not really sure why Fox keeps holding on to Fantastic Four. It's not like they made a killing with the two films they released. I guess they're just hoping they can piggyback a little off the success of the Marvel Studios movies.

It cannot be beyond the wit of lawyers to be able to work something out. Letting the characters appear in movies without losing the rights and profit sharing the proceeds.

Get the people round the table talking. It would be a massive movie event and make a killing!

Well, it's not really a spoiler at this point, but the "stinger" in the Spidey 2 credits was actually a promo for the new X-Men flick. I don't know if that presages more cooperation in the future, or just Sony out squeezing out more bucks, but I thought is was interesting. Peculiar interesting, that is.

I've read that it was a contractual obligation sort of deal. It had to do with Webb leaving Fox before his contract was out. He was given the OK to do Spider-Man movies for Sony as long as Fox was allowed to attach promotional material to one of them. I don't think it means there will be more cooperation in the future.

The scene was put on-line on Friday or Saturday. It's an official release. For once, it's not a grainy cellphone capture.

Well, the plot of Spidey 2 was clearly setting up not only for further Spidey movies but the villain movies they're looking to spin off, so it's all about the cross-promotion nowadays.
