They seem like a bang on representation of quite a lot of wealthy Russians I meet both in London and travelling.

WWE has now issued the requisite non-apology apology.

“Last night’s segment during WWE’s Battleground event was in no way referring to the Malaysia Airlines tragedy. The storyline with characters Rusev and Lana has been a part of WWE programming for more than 3 months. WWE apologizes to anyone who misunderstood last night’s segment and was offended.”

"We ask that all you ill-informed miscreants familiarize yourselves more thoroughly with our content, and be sure to watch every upcoming nanosecond of WWE programming. This should help you avoid future misunderstandings. Much of our prior programming can be purchased through various on-line retailers. Don't buy used. It's too risky. God bless America and down with America."

Also, they spelt 'apologises' wrong.

The artists spells it with a "z" as a young man:

Pull out his eyes,
Apologize,
Apologize,
Pull out his eyes.
Apologize,
Pull out his eyes,
Pull out his eyes,
Apologize.

Granted, the artist is Irish.

Listen. When it comes to correct usage of the English language, I think the world's foremost professional wrestling organization might just know a thing or two more about it than you do, London boy!

The artist spells it with an "s" as an older man:

"Bloom askance over liverless saw. Face of the all is lost. Rollicking Richie once. Jokes old stale now. Wagging his ear. Napkinring in his eye. Now begging letters he sends his son with. Crosseyed Walter sir I did sir. Wouldn't trouble only I was expecting some money. Apologise."

He also doesn't use "spelt" unless he's referring to dinkel wheat.

You're clearly fishing with that spelling of "rumor."

I actually hadn't heard of Muhammad Hassan until I was reading up on Lana & Rusev the other day. He popped up when I was still checked out from wrestling, but apparently he got dropped after the 7/7 London bombings. So WWE isn't completely douchey and insensitive. Just like 89%.

I only know of Muhammad Hassan because of an interruption fad on YTMND.

If he appears in an interruption site, does that site get labeled a "Hassan Chop"?

7/7 did for him, but he was still good to go after 9/11 ?

Ah, it may have not even been WWE's decision:

Per Wiki:

"He is best known for his appearances with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) from 2004 to 2005, where he portrayed an Arab American under the ring name Muhammad Hassan. His career came to an abrupt end when a controversial "terrorism" storyline coincided with the 7 July 2005 London bombings, leading the television network UPN to pressure WWE to remove Copani's character from television"

Oh God. This is bad even by WWE's usual low bar. Wiki continues:

"On the episode of SmackDown! taped on July 4, General Manager Theodore Long put Muhammad Hassan in a match against The Undertaker at The Great American Bash and placed Daivari (Hassan's manager) in a match that night against the Undertaker. Daivari was defeated easily, but Hassan began to "pray" on the ramp, summoning five masked men, dressed in black shirts, ski-masks, and camo pants. Armed with clubs and a piano wire, they beat and choked the Undertaker out, and Hassan put him in the Camel Clutch. Afterward, the masked men lifted Daivari above their heads and carried him away.[20] Three days later, the London bombings took place.[21] The footage aired unedited on UPN in the United States and on The Score in Canada with an advisory warning shown several times during the broadcast. It was removed from the Australian and European (including in the UK) broadcasts.[22]

The angle elicited national attention in the New York Post, TV Guide, Variety, and other major media outlets. In response to the criticism, UPN decided that it would monitor the storyline closely and that it did not want the Hassan character on its network that week.[23] Hassan later delivered a promo to the live crowd for the July 14 airing of SmackDown!, but when UPN announced that the segment would be edited, WWE decided to host the video of the segment on its official website. In the segment, Hassan, reiterates that he is an Arab-American and that the American people automatically and unfairly assume that he is a terrorist. Despite being in character, he referred to the real-world media coverage of the storyline, singling out the New York Post's Don Kaplan by name, and denouncing his description of the events on SmackDown!, such as Kaplan's comment of the masked men being "Arabs in ski masks".[24] On the July 14 episode of SmackDown!, Hassan's absence was explained by a statement delivered by his lawyer, which said that Hassan refused to appear on the show until that month's Great American Bash due to the way he had been treated by the media and WWE fans.[25]

It was revealed in late July 2005 that UPN had pressured WWE to keep Hassan off of their network, effectively removing him from SmackDown!. Hassan lost the match to The Undertaker at The Great American Bash and was written off with The Undertaker doing a Last Ride through the stage. Copani was released from his WWE contract on September 21, 2005. After his release, he retired from pro wrestling."

Not really his fault. The whole thing is play-acting with pre-determined winners and losers based on storylines and characters. He would have just done what he was told.

Oh, of course. I don't blame the wrestler one bit. That's like blaming the actor because the movie had a terrible script.
