This hip-hop album reviewer discovers Rage Against the Machine, and the pure joy he experiences is simply contagious. "Rage Against the Machine" is a kick-ass album and, sadly, still relevant.

This guy, Rick Beato, has a YouTube series titled "What Makes This Song Great?" The series title itself annoys me a bit because what most of the videos boil down to is simply a breakdown/analysis of the elements making up each song without much commentary by Beato as to what exactly he thinks makes the songs great. I guess it's implied that the intricacy of the mix or the quality execution of the constituent elements are what makes the songs great. Maybe he could state that more clearly is what I'm saying.

I did like this particular video, mainly because it's about Soundgarden, but I also liked Beato's reactions to the isolated vocal track.

I think he probably just appealed to SEO to figure out what headlines would get him views. He appears to have at least two or three assistants helping him figure out how to reach people.

I'm a subscriber. It's neat to hear from an industry insider with genuine insights, even if he is occasionally some mix of smug, grumpy, and pushily opinionated. I like that it's clear he's not just some kid doing research and regurgitating talking points he's read on wikis and message boards. He approaches things practically, knows his stuff, and knows how to keep things interesting for viewers whether or not they know anything about music.

I watched The NeverEnding Story 2 when it first came to video, didn't like it... and watching this I now know I blocked the entire thing from my mind.

One thing re: the names in the book. Ende has some crazy ones, but Ralph Mannheim, who translated it, took a bunch of the character names, discarded them, and made up his own crazy replacement names. This happened in the first English translation of Momo, too - the translator completely threw away a nice pun on Marx in one of Gigi's stories by renaming a king. That said, the Rock Biter (Felsenbeißer - I refuse to say Rock Chewer)'s name is indeed Pjörnrachzarck.
