This is the thread where you all get to laugh at my hilarious adventures in the world of dating and help me navigate the bloody mine-field that is re-hitting the dating scene at my age! Also, Adam's here, but he's such a stone cold Norwegian stud he doesn't need our help!

So mission #1:

Beautiful girl, 35 years old. Has 2 kids. Been chatting for ages. Never met but intro'd through a mutual friend. This Saturday Is D-Day. Oldest kid is with the father for the weekend. Youngest kid (therefore date) is in a state of flux due to awaiting confirmation from the Grandmother that she can babysit.

So.....exam question. It's probably lunch. Do I offer that she can bring youngest and do something fun and kid friendly? Or is that totally off the reservation and a little creepy?

Good with kids and open to her being a parent and it not being an issue vs. thats just a little creepy?

Modern dating is so confusing!

Being OK with having a kid tag along only sounds creepy to people without kids. I suppose it also depends on how you say it. Just don't sound pedophiley when you suggest it. Also, be sure you're truly cool with the kid coming along before you say you're cool with it. If you two hit it off, you'll have to get to know the kids anyway.

Be sure to let her know she has a voice in the matter. If the point of her getting out is to get a break from her kids, she might not want the kid there. Don't make it sound like you insist that she bring along the kid. Some people also want to make sure they're serious about a person before introducing that person to their kids. I've had friends like that.

Dating's never seemed all that confusing to me. On some level, it's strange to me that people get worked up about it. This whole "fear of rejection" thing seems like it must be pretty crippling.

I have a date coming up in a couple of hours with the most promising girl I'll have had a date with in YEARS. Getting nervous, but I like the cut of her jib thus far, so I think it should be okay.

And don't worry about this "friend zone" bullshit that compels guys to turn on the douche switch whenever they come to the conclusion that they've been too nice. If the desire to manipulate women into sleeping with you is overriding your desire to present yourself honestly and as a person with some shred of decency, you have problems.

Told you, he's a ladykiller. I can't compete with that. Just hope Studly Stud McStudson leaves some leftovers for us mere mortals further down the dating food chain!

Meh. She was...intense. I don't see a long term future, but that's okay as it keeps me free to pursue the girl who waxes my back!

I like intensity. Shows they care.

Re: 'The Child Conundrum' - I just said that if her Mum couldn't look after her daughter and she fancied tagging along for lunch then that was no problem, and left it at that.

You don't want it getting hard if the kid tags along.

We're all bagels, it seems. I made sure to ask.

At one point, I also seamlessly worked in "Don't worry, I smelled what you were cookin'." just for you guys. She rolled with it.

Eh, I'm not sold yet. She's not wild about Springsteen. Not anti-Boss, just indifferent-Boss.

Studly Stud McStudson is so spoilt for choice that his standards can afford to be inflexible.

If it is, it means that many, many of Earth's humans' sexual organs will remain unavailable to him--unless he's a love-'em-and-leave-'em sort of dude who bangs first and asks about the Boss later.

How about it, Adam? Are you a love-'em-and-leave-'em sort of dude who bangs first and asks about the Boss later?
