Current Annoyances
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Or, you know, born in a US American hospital in the latter half of the last century.
To be honest, I was describing the shape of the typical glans. I wasn't speaking of Caucasian calamari.

Don't make me post a picture! Then there'll be current annoyances. Boy will there ever be annoyances.

Re: Current Annoyances
Well, that's where all this was just incredibly weird. The first issue was last Tuesday when I fell asleep on my couch and woke up with 8-12 itchy red welts across my chest and stomach. I had planned to go to the MinuteClinic that morning anyway for something unrelated and while there I lifted my shirt and asked "Hey, what are these?" She said it could be spiders, but had every trademark of bed bugs. I freaked out, went home and started vacuuming the hell out of my living room and did find three small black spiders in one corner of the room and cobwebs sort of scattered through out.Mal Shot First wrote:Are you finding small reddish-brown spots on your bedsheets? That's usually an indicator of bedbugs. If you don't see any on your sheets, take off the sheets and examine the edges of your mattress, focusing on the seams. Bedbugs like to hide in the crevices, so if you see these brown spots in those areas (or the bugs themselves), you're dealing with bedbugs.
If the inspectors were any good, they've already checked all this, but I don't know how they determined that there aren't any bedbugs, so maybe you should check again yourself.
(Two things here: Yes, it had been a while since I vacuumed. I also had been having an issue with my balcony door not shutting tightly which took maintenance over a week to come fix)
I was VERY relieved to see the spiders and assumed that was that. I slept either in my bed or at the girlfriend's place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, had no issues, then took a nap Friday afternoon in my living room...and woke up with fresh bites. I spent the rest of Friday night doing exactly what you said, Mal. Stripping the sheets, examining EVERY inch of my bed, couch, chair and surrounding areas, vacuuming all over and found nothing. I still reported it on Saturday and was told to put everything I own into airtight plastic bags because they'd be there Sunday (it was later changed to Monday) to spray. Not inspect, spray. During the packing I DID find what was clearly some sort of larvae inside a pillowcase from my couch which has since been throw in the dumpster, but not much beyond that.
I've now slept in the bed two nights since they found nothing and have no new bites to report and I HAVE to imagine if there were bedbugs they would've found my bed by now so I think I'm in the clear. All they found apparently were a couple "carpet bugs," whatever that means, did a general spray for that and left.
Stressful week, but I THINK I'm in the clear. Here's hoping.

I see the odd cockroach in my place. Semi-detached house, the neighbours are filthy.
Good incentive to constantly keep things clean, especially anything foodish.

We have a Jubboiter. Having a Jubboiter is how you get ants.

My place is old so it's spiders. I hate spiders. Spider spray keeps the bastards out during autumn.

Re: Current Annoyances
Spiders are ok with me. We have reached an accord. Spiders and centipedes eat the other bugs: earwigs, ants, flies, as well as, I would imagine, cockroaches.
Arthropods are tolerated as long as they do their job.

I hate the way that something that small just sits there, and looks at you, as if to say "come on you fucker!" - they know something we don't!

The spiders ask that you please consider the centipede when you levy leg-centric charges of showing off at them.
