IT'S VACATION TIME HULKY HUMPERS!!!
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

I guess this would be an appropriate time to post this: My wife and I are going to the U.S. Virgin Island for a week. We're leaving after St. Patrick's Day.

At least when I went to Florida for a week, all I did was work and prepare for my black belt testing. Plus the weather sucked while I was there. And I had to listen to my parents bicker.

My friend who killed himself once said he was going to move to the Virgin Islands because, ha ha, he was a virgin.

How are the U.S. Virgin Islands different from the British Virgin Islands? Apparently, the U.S. Virgin Islands have left-hand traffic, despite their association with the U.S., so they can't be all that different from their British counterpart.

I knew somebody who, as a child, used to get terribly confused by the word "Virginia" and "Vagina".

In my defense, I was a minor for four of those years. Not that this would necessarily prevent anyone from having sex.The Swollen Goiter of God wrote:He was a virgin the whole time he was there, too.

The pronunciation of the city "Regina" is a source of lowbrow comedy up here.

No defense necessary. There's nothing wrong with minimizing the chance of STD contraction while still under the parents' roof. Who wants to have that conversation with a parent? Minors can't just go and make I-think-I-have-gonorrhea appointments without their parents' knowledge/consent.Mal Shot First wrote:In my defense, I was a minor for four of those years. It's a little annoying to me that I never misspell or have to look up the spelling for "gonorrhea." It would be less annoying if "maintenance" didn't take me a second try half the time.

Read it and weep, Flouncers, I will be heading to the land of Dalty this July. One night in London, where I expect Ol' Moneybags to buy me a pint, and then eight days in Bath Spa, where I will be one of 15 students in my grad program learning from the likes of Philip Pullman and David Almond. Okay, it's a working vacation, but at least I won't be cooking.

Sounds like a good time!
I know Pullman, but I don't know Almond. Looks like Almond was one of the authors who worked on Click. I've never read it, but I like it when writers get together and do things like that.

Almond's "Skellig" is an amazing piece of magical realism for kids. Plus he's done historical and is a brilliant speaker. I'm beyond excited.

Arriving lunchtime on July 7 (a Tuesday), then train to Bath the next morning. Not sure where I'll be staying, but probably not far from a Tube stop to make travel from Heathrow/to Paddington easier. Return from Bath to Heathrow a tight turnaround, so I'm really only in London proper the evening of 7th.

Heathrow Express goes in and out of Paddington, as does the train to Bath. Hmmmmm, not sure I know many bars in the Paddington area.
