It occurs to me that I've never sat down and listed out which Woody Allen movies (whether he directed, starred in, wrote, or did some mix of all of the above) I've seen. I'll give it a whirl. These are the ones I've seen (I'll leave out the ones I've only seen, thanks to TV broadcasts or YouTube, in part):
What's New Pussycat?
What's Up, Tiger Lily?
Casino Royale
Bananas
Play It Again, Sam
Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)
Sleeper
Love and Death
Annie Hall
Manhattan
Stardust Memories
Zelig
The Purple Rose of Cairo
Hannah and Her Sisters
Radio Days
New York Stories (segment)
Crimes and Misdemeanors
Shadows and Fog
Husbands and Wives
Manhattan Murder Mystery
Bullets over Broadway
Mighty Aphrodite
Everyone Says I Love You
Deconstructing Harry
Wild Man Blues
Celebrity
The Impostors (actor only)
AntZ (voice actor only)
Sweet and Lowdown
Small Time Crooks
The Curse of the Jade Scorpion
Hollywood Ending
Anything Else
Match Point
Scoop
Whatever Works
Midnight in Paris
To Rome with Love
Blue Jasmine
I pretty much just copied and pasted his filmography from Wikipedia and only kept the ones I was certain I'd seen from start to finish.
It surprises me that I've seen as many of Allen's movies as I have. I figured I'd seen a couple dozen, tops, but it turns out I've seen almost forty.
I wouldn't mind seeing some of them again. Some of them--Small Time Crooks and The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, in particular--have bled together a bit over time. Some of them--like Zelig, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Hannah and her Sisters, and Bullets over Broadway--I barely remember. Some of the ones I haven't seen I have no desire to see.
It's a mixed bag of a filmography, but the guy's made some real standouts. Crimes and Misdemeanors is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Here's something that has nothing to do with anything:
For years, I mixed up Zelig and Yentl. I recognized them as distinct pictures, but I'd hear someone mention the title of one of the two, and it would take the person saying a bit more before I'd remember which was which. Not sure why the slip-up. Maybe it's because the titles are both disyllabic Jewish names that start with letters close to the end of the alphabet, they both deal with identity, and they both came out in '83. They're also both very different movies.
