Archer drops the name ISIS...

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Archer drops the name ISIS...

Post by Space Tycoon »

...which actually kind of fits, as they are now supposed to be linked up with the CIA, as I recall.

We were all wondering how they were going to integrate the other ISIS into their storyline, but most of me thinks this is the right way to go.

Of course, part of me wanted to see the obvious comedic potential of 2 ISIS's realized. The punnery alone would have been worth the price of admission. But perhaps not everything has to be a joke.

Here's this, yet again:

I've been wondering how they would address this. I like that they essentially admitted that Trey Parker's balls were bigger than theirs.

It's kind of a shame, since it's my understanding that the organization, itself, doesn't really go by ISIS anymore.

I like Archer a lot. I'll watch it whether or not they keep "ISIS."

It's a bummer about all that merchandise.

The comments in the Guardian article are pretty clever. "Ji-had something for this," etc.

I agree ST, I could see some serious comedic potential for the confusion between Archer and the real world ISIS but I guess it would be in bad taste.

It's all shits and giggles until somebody gets stoned to death for uncovering their face in public.

I don't know why we insist on giving them legitimate names like Islamic State. If we insisted on calling them 'Super Goat Ass Fucking Bumdars Who Are Super Gay For Boy Goats' and let it be known that every person who ever joins them is immediately, legally, confirmed as a boy-goat fucker (and super into it) then some of those little cunts might give up on fashionable jihad.

I was tempted to go for the Council for the Liberation and Inclusion of Terrifying Old Religions and their Integration into Society. But the drawbacks were that:

1) The abbreviation is C.L.I.T.O.R.I.S. and;

2) Red Dwarf did this gag first.

All this stuff going on with ISIS reminds me of the setting and plot of the original Command & Conquer, with GDI and Nod replaced with Obama's coalition and ISIS, respectively.

Nod is a terrorist organization recruiting followers from around the globe (but rooted in Africa and the Middle East), permeated by a cult-like ideology and bent on ushering in a new world order (not to be confused with the New World Order). They've been gaining influence worldwide without being taken seriously, until they go on an all-out offensive that catches the global community off-guard. The GDI, like the coalition, at first struggles to contain the Nod threat, but eventually succeeds in gaining the upper hand... which hasn't happened yet in the real world.

They know we are weakened and tired from previous interventionist action and appear not to have the stomach for the fight. They are probably correct right now. Sooner or later they will overstep the imagined mark.
