We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Naturally, the final two shows in that tournament are MASH and Star Trek.

Re: TV Show Opening/Closing Titles Tournament Nominations Th
Star Trek wound up beating MASH in the Me-TV tournament. As a reward, they aired an hour long block of Star Trek programming at 8 PM last night.
In other words...they showed a Star Trek re-run last night instead of F-Troop. An upgrade, I'll give them that much.
Tonight I'm going to try to count up all the theme songs we've nominated thus far. I don't *think* we're at 64 yet, so keep the nominations coming. If we're not there by tonight, I'll either fill in the blanks or make it a 32 show contest, depending on the total we're at thus far.

By my quick count, Saved By the Bell puts us at 56. That doesn't count one from the first page where Goiter posted what is now a dead YouTube link. My fault for waiting on this so long.
8 more to go and I'll draw up a bracket.

Re: TV Show Opening/Closing Titles Tournament Nominations Th
The dead link was the Heathcliff theme:
I'm not actually going to go back through the thread(s), but did we already add Mannix, Peter Gunn, Hill Street Blues, Dragnet, Voltron, Tranzor Z, WKRP in Cincinnati, Sanford and Son, the '83 Alvin and the Chipmunks, Rocky & His Friends/The Bullwinkle Show/The Rocky & Bullwinkle Show, The Time Tunnel, Hawaii Five-O, I Spy, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Dinosaurs, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Tales from the Crypt, Batman (the '66 show, specifically, though the animated show's theme's pretty great), Greatest American Hero, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Golden Girls, The Simpsons, Wild Wild West, Quantum Leap, Voyagers!, A-Team, The Muppet Show, Danger Man (suck my butt, Johnny Rivers!), and Beavis & Butt-head?
Oh, and there's the Silver Spoons theme, which is a fucking fantastic piece of work that I love deeply and unconditionally. Did I already add that one?
I realize that's more than the eight or so you needed, but they're all themes I like, and I'm sure you have a fair number of them already on the list. I've been meaning to add more to the pile, but I've been a lazy shit about it.

Jubboiter would like to nominate Thomas and Friends and Peep and the Big Wide World.
I'm too lazy to go back and see what's been done, but I vote Louie, Archer, Futurama, Darkwing Duck. If we were doing end credits, I would say Adventure Time.

Re: TV Show Opening/Closing Titles Tournament Nominations Th
Adding end credits would blow this puppy wide open. There are a bunch of great end credits.
I'd nominate the opening theme from the '84 Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, specifically, or maybe the original lyric theme. I'm not keen on the American-produced version's theme.
The Peep theme is pretty good. It feels like it's a part of me, at this point. It has a way of becoming part of my internal soundtrack during moments that are otherwise quiet.

Damn it Goiter. Now I've either got to make some cuts, arrange some play-in matchups, or both.

Is there any truth in the rumour that Pierce Brosnan is the new voice of Thomas The Tank Engine? Ringo Starr's replacement.
Can I nominate Street Hawk? Tangerine Dream FFS!
That also evens it up and saves Wizzbit.

Re: TV Show Theme Song Tournament Nominations Thread
Ringo Starr has been long since replaced. His involvement with the original show predated the each-train-has-a-different-voice-actor era. He was the original narrator, so, in a sense, he voiced everyone.
He was also the first conductor on the first season of Shining Time Station. Shining Time Station, if you're unfamiliar with it, is America's first attempt to Americanize Thomas. (To be fair, Britt Allcroft was involved, so it's not like Thomas's initial Americanization is entirely America's "fault.")

Re: TV Show Theme Song Tournament Nominations Thread
It just occured to me that I didn't answer your question about Brosnan. Brosnan was involved with the show for a single season/series back in 2008--and only for a specific feature-length production. I say "season/series" because he was the narrator for both the US and UK versions. The person voicing the US and UK versions isn't necessarily always the same.
I haven't heard of him being involved in any of the more recent stuff. I think Mark Moraghan is the new guy in town.

Ahh, OK. When it first launched in the UK it was Starr all the way for years, and I just remembered vaguely hearing something about Brosnan taking over which seemed really cool. Haven't seen it in years. I have also managed to avoid Frozen entirely despite my God-daughters best efforts. We did watch the Lego movie together though, and agreed everything is indeed awesome.

When my kid was a wee tyke eons ago, it was Carlin and then Starr, and Baldwin was the interloper.
I think you need to add the "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" theme, it is a total ear worm.

The station must have shown them out of order, Negs. Starr was the first narrator on Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends and the first Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station. He left the former in '86 and the latter in '90. Carlin didn't get involved with either until '91.

Since we've gone well over 64, we should try to come to some sort of consensus on the essential entries to this tournament versus the fringe ones. The "bubble" shows, to use NCAA speak.

If an entry is a show you're unaware of, or if you don't strongly associate its theme with it, I say you strike it.
