Trailers

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Trailers
I'm a sucker for a Dirty Dozen-style narrative. I have one I want to write in the pipeline.

Re: Trailers
I can only presume some/all of them scatter at the end to allow the various DC stand-alone films to have somebody to chase?

Re: Trailers
Everybody be hatin' on the new Spidey for some reason.
Good trailer though. If this is The Year of the Superhero Movie, Cap: CW may be the standout.

What is to hate about the new Spidey? In the 1.8 seconds he is on screen?

Re: Trailers
"Some people" appears to be a pretty small number of people. Even on AICN, the response has been pretty positive. Compare this trailer's like bar to the like bar for the new Ghostbusters trailers. There's where you go if you're lookin' to see people hatin' on somethin'.
I like Spidey's Romita eyes. I like the lens focus sounds when his costume's eyes narrow. I think it may be that he's modded his suit (or had it modded for him by Stark, if rumors are to be believed) to allow him to take hands-free photographs for The Daily Bugle. (He already does this with webbing and timers, but this would allow him to get non-stationary shots.)

I was going to say I thought the eyes were like the comics, and the suit looks vaguely as if a high school student could have made it from readily available materials.

Re: Trailers
As we get older, and more drunk, we realise that pleasing everyone is beyond impossible.
We have a totally connected, coherent, multi-year, multi-franchise Marvel movie universe where even the weakest movies are are significantly above average. We have a second Golden-age of 007 underway, we have Batman v Superman on the big screen as the start of a Justice League, we just had a Star Wars movie that most definitely didn't suck.
ARE WE NOT ENTERTAINED??

Re: Trailers
NuTrek may very well auger in, this year. So the answer is... mostly yes, partly no.

Re: Trailers
ST 2009 is still the most entertaining Trek on the big screen for about two decades. ST:ID was still fun and looked gorgeous even with its missteps.

Maybe so, but Beyond looks terrible. I hope to be proven wrong.

Re: Trailers
The Beastie Boys soundtrack didn't help. Although I still think there was something in that trailer that was a massive troll on a global scale.

Re: Trailers
There is now, I will grant you, a very definite need to see a Starship Captain emerge in Kirk. But I maintain they were getting there in ST:ID.
There is something about that stoic superiority and total consideration of the situation at hand (as per Picard) that genuinely makes me want to be a UFP Starship Captain. There is something straight out of a TED talk on the essence of leadership about them when they get it right. And Kirk needs to get it right this time around as part of his arc.

Re: Trailers
Preaching to the choir there. I believe Pine has that in him, but it all depends on the writers/producers.
The direction I would have taken Trek would be less Fast and the Furious, more Interstellar and/or The Martian.

Re: Trailers
From the Fark thread I was reading, the complaints were mostly how the suit and the shield looked "shiny" and "fake". There was a lot of speculation that it was due to unfinished CGI and it would be cleaned up in post. Also, many were complaining the voice sounds way too young, even though IIRC they are rebooting Spidey to be a young high schooler and not playing him with a 20 something actor.Dalty wrote:What is to hate about the new Spidey? I will admit the trailer totally blew me away, but when the end rolled and I saw the webbing, I about lost it. This year, with Deadpool (which I still need to see), Daredevil Season 2, BvS, and now this might just be a golden age for us comic book nerds.

Re: Trailers
I am so MEH on this. Nothing about the trailer really makes me want to see the movie.
