We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Trailers
Just finished this book--I'm a little slow getting the 2012's "must-have" book--and am really intrigued how they're going to turn it into a movie. Looks right up Fincher's alley, and this trailer is really cool, barely hinting at a possible twist.

Re: Trailers
I keep waiting for Nolan to make that one great movie I know he has in him. Maybe this will be it.

Looks kinda like Paddington from the books, and some of those scrapes are lifted directly from Bond's work. Also like the escalator / dog gag.

It's a weird mix of stuff that works for me and stuff that makes me worry it's going to be absolutely terrible.

Re: Trailers
I'm missing the duffle coat. I'm sure there've been a number of times he's gone without it, but I always think of him with it.
Some of the calm/storm contrast stuff in the trailer works for me, but for the most part, it feels like an odd mix of CG Yogi Bear and Mr. Bean.

Re: Trailers
Of course, that's Billy Crystal's playful recreation of this scene:
Edward G. Robinson never actually says "Where's your Messiah now?" in The Ten Commandments. At least, I'm pretty sure he doesn't.
The Crystal version is so popular that a lot of people wound up thinking he did. Most of the time, when somebody does an impersonation of the Edward G. Robinson character from The Ten Commandments, they're doing an impersonation of Billy Crystal doing and impersonation of the Edward G. Robinson character. Here's an example:
I'm pretty sure Rob Schneider does a version of the Billy Crystal routine on an SNL episode from '93. Heston was the host. It was this episode.

Re: Trailers
I'm familiar with all of those. In addition, I was suggesting that the Paddington images are similar to the internet's reaction to the Burger King commercials featuring the King.
(I'm probably explaining something to you that you already knew.)

Re: Trailers
(I already knew, but that doesn't mean everybody on the board knew it. I think you might have even been the one to introduce me to it. I was focusing my attention specifically on Edward G., since I figured you'd go into the King meme if you wanted to.)
