Obviously the fault of Planned Parenthood. Definitely not the insane level of rhetoric the right has spewed about them over the past few months.

This shooting has really got me down. Why this more than others, I'm not sure, but it just makes me want to spew profanity-laced invectives at the right for all the utter bullshit they peddle.

I think it has to do with this one being the direct result of people promoting crazy behavior, as opposed to the other ones which are just a result of general crazy.

Well, yes. But has it ever been so actively promoted as it is now? There's an entire political and media network actively encouraging people to cling tightly to their guns while preaching the horrors of Planned Parenthood. That feels a scary kind of new to me.

I agree with you. The point I intended to make was that it was bad enough without all the promotion. Probably could have worded it better.

I mean, I think I agree with you. I don't follow the media network in question, so I'm just taking people's word for it that violence toward abortion clinics and professionals is being promoted.

If we're talking about the same network I think we're talking about--Fox, I mean--things may be changing. Trump supporters are turning away from it. I don't know what this means. I don't know what he's said recently about abortion, and I don't know if his supporters are aligned with him on this particular issue. I know he's said some conflicting things over the years regarding his stance on abortion, but I haven't kept up with him on the issue.

Hearing news of a shooting event in San Bernadinho California - 20 dead.

Just flashed up during the Syria debate on the news.

At least 14 dead, at least that many injured, and naturally we'll do absolutely nothing about it.

That's not true. If the shooters were Islamic, we'll send some fighter bombers to drop more ordinance on some pathetic failed state somewhere.

I don't wish to sound insensitive. But if this turns out to be the actions of radical Islamists, well I think we all know how that ends.

How did the U.S. retaliate after the Boston Marathon bombing? I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've lost track of how our government has responded to half the things it's responded to in the last decade or so.

It now seems that the shooter has an Arabic name and is probably Islamic. For normal, sensible people, this is a source of some real concern.

However, for the kind of people who think Donald Trump would make a fine US President...this merely validates his totalitarian, intolerant platform.

I don't think they retaliated anywhere so much as they quietly ignored the fact that the brothers were U.S. citizens.

Which I'm sure is what will happen with the shooting yesterday. Lots of "thoughts and prayers," lots of "OMG ALL THE MUSLIMS ARE HORRIBLE THIS CLEARLY PROVES IT" and then we'll get distracted by the next mass shooting and move on. Vicious, terrible, senseless cycle.
