Forum and In-Joke Guide
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Almost every U.S. citizen born in a hospital in either the seventies or eighties was made to look Jewish . . . down there.
The process is different, but the outcome is similar. The big difference is that there are far fewer cases of non-Jewish infants dying from herpes passed on by the mouth of an Orthodox mohel.

Re: Forum and In-Joke Guide
In America, the practice of general circumcision started at the beginning of the 19th century. Intended to make things hygienic (i.e. make masturbation and sex less pleasurable). Blame Dr. Kellogg and his ilk. And the "cleanliness" thing persists today.
In Germany, it's illegal for doctors to do it unless it is medically necessary. Jews and Muslims are allowed to have it done to their children as their religion mandates, but it must be by one of their religious officials, not a doctor.

If he drives a Saab, does that mean he's Drivin' 'N' Cryin'?

Did I mention that there's a Swedish-American museum only a couple miles away from my house? Haven't gone in it yet, but Jimmy Carter visited last week.Adam54 wrote:I don't think I've ever felt more Scandinavian than I do right now.

Do you go there to see meatballs, flat pack furniture, bikini teams and a display of sauna through the ages?

You've got IKEA and like three different countries mixed in there, Dimple. It's as though you don't even know my kinfolk at all!Bananarama's Bouncy Bits wrote:Do you go there to see meatballs, flat pack furniture, bikini teams and a display of sauna through the ages?

I don't think we can claim saunas. That's...Finland? The Netherlands? Maybe both?Mal Shot First wrote:As far as I know, the things he listed are all Swedish.Adam54 wrote:You've got IKEA and like three different countries mixed in there, Dimple. It's as though you don't even know my kinfolk at all!

Re: Forum and In-Joke Guide
Well, the term "Swedish sauna" exists for a reason. Apparently, the earliest saunas in North America were of Swedish origin, but you're right in claiming that they're probably not a Swedish invention. The Swedes didn't necessarily invent meatballs either, but they're still known for them.
