Fun Facts
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Fun Facts
The Russian word for "nightmare" (Кошмар) looks like "kowmap" to the eye untrained to read Cyrillic.

Re: Fun Facts
The word ‘oxymoron’ is itself an oxymoron. This is because it derives from Ancient Greek where ‘oxy’ means ‘sharp’ and ‘moros’ means ‘stupid’.

Roald Dahl's "The Witches" is banned in many American libraries...... on the grounds that it promotes sexism.

Re: Fun Facts
The Danish word for tax is skat.
Skat in Danish can also mean honey.
The Danish phrase for taxman translates literally as Tax Daddy.
So when you are paying your taxes in Denmark, you are giving your honey to the skat daddy.

Re: Fun Facts
This continues to be my go-to image for that joke:
It's the one I considered buying a few times while I was in Germany for the 2006/2007 academic year. I like that it's "Ass," and I like that it's "2.0."

George Crum claims to have invented the 'crisp' - but a recipe in a UK cook book from 50 years before Crum claimed the invention says this is bullshit.

Re: Fun Facts
I'm not sure. I do know, however, that if you're gonna play in Tax Ass, you gotta have a fiddle in the band. That lead guitar is hot, but not for a Louisiana man.

Only three countries in the world don't use the metric system. Liberia, Myanmar and the USA. And Myanmar is converting.

In Iceland they give each other clothes at Xmas because clothes stop you getting eaten by the Yule Cat.
