I don't mean that as a slight or as a compliment. For some reason, it just transports me back to 2002. I'm in the mall with an ex-girlfriend. She's looking through stacks of overpriced shirts for something that'll fit her. She's scolding me for poking a mannequin's boob. She wants me to stay close, but for God's sake, not that close. Go to the other side of the store. Stop touching everything. Jesus, Goiter. You know what? Just go to the food court.

I think American Eagle Outfitters used to sell CDs full of the songs they played in the stores. I wonder if getting on an American Eagle Outfitters CD was a big deal for a band. I bet it was.

I knew Abby Elliott was Chris Elliott's daughter, but I guess the name makes that a little more obvious.
The rawness of her vocals in parts of that "Exes and Ohs" song kind of reminds me of this:

I think the fuzzy guitars and all the processing and reverb applied to her voice are what reminded me of the American Eagle Outfitters tracks from the early aughts.

I remember when American Eagle Outfitters was just American Eagle and a great place to get your preppie gear.

Ma-ruboro looks like the Japanese transcription of Marlboro.

I thought it has to be in order to make the "I am Tom Marvello Riddle" anagram from Chamber Of Secrets work due to the vagueries of the Japanese language?

They didn't try. They present the anagram in English, with the literal Japanese in parentheses.

I was actually only slightly off:

マールボロ (Marlboro)
マールヴォロ (Marvello)

But then again, I guess I was about as much off as Marlboro and Marvello are in their English spellings.

It appears you were less slightly off than Dalty, at least.

Jubbers is my go to Japan SME on all things that don't involve being crazily Japanese. So her word is basically Japanese Law from where I am standing.

So...... FACT DENIED!

I was going to ask if you studied Japanese at the Sorbonne, but I waited too long.

In the 1970s, Mattel sold a doll called "Growing Up Skipper." Her breasts grew when her arm was turned.

I had one of those! No matter how much I spun my arms, it never worked in real life.

That synth-whistling sound you hear in a lot of West Coast rap from the 90s is called G-funk whine.

An example:
