What was that game where..........?

What was that game where..........?
Can you guys help me ID an old game?
It was either on my Commodore Amiga or very early PC.
It was a strategy sim affair. You had to build shuttles to get you to orbit, then a space station. Then ships capable of moving from planet to planet in the solar system.
Different planets and moons had different minerals and they all combined to help you build different ships and weapons etc.
Once you got as far as...... I think...... Saturn, a blue person / alien appeared and told you "That's far enough human!" then you ended up having to fight them for each planet / moon while they tried to take over yours.
I cannot remember what it was called.

No idea. Maybe a 4X game like Masters of Orion or something?

Nope. Not that. When it went to combat there were a lot of dots flying around?

You started on Earth, built a shuttle, hauled materials into space and built an orbital station. Once there you could go to another planet in the solar system, or moons, and build another station, and there build another shuttle down to the surface to get materials.
Different materials were available in different planets and you used the interplanetary ships to move them around to factory facilities. So you had to build a shuttle-station-ship-factory like network.
Once you built your seventh station, or got past Jupiter or something, an alien race appeared and started attacking your stations so you had to keep them stocked with battle drones.
You could research new tech too.
I was thinking about it today and fancied playing it so thought I would look for a version online somewhere but I am bug geared if I can remember what it was called.

Ah. Don't know that one. You gave me Commodore as an option, so that put me in mind of the games I'd played on mine in the mid-to-late eighties. I moved on to console gaming not long after that. Didn't get a proper Windows-running PC until I moved off to college in '97.
I've been thinking a little about the games of my youth. I wouldn't mind revisiting Space: 1889.
I also wouldn't mind tracking down the original Space: 1889 RPG. I've never played it.

There was another Amiga game - something involving a guy working on a particle accelerator who then gets zapped into another planet. There were these slug things with poison spikes. It was like a very slow moving platform game.

That sounds like Another World. I knew it as a Genesis game, but it was on a number of platforms.

That definitely sounds like Another World. There was a 20th anniversary edition that was recently released on Steam. What's pretty impressive is that the game was essentially a one-man project. If I remember correctly, the same person programmed the game, animated the characters and cinematics, and composed the music. It was a simpler time.
The same designer was also behind Heart of Darkness, which was a platformer with similar gameplay that was released on the PlayStation.

I haven't played it in forever, but I have this memory of not being able to jump in the game and being really frustrated by this.

There is a bit of a hop you can do from a standing position. I think you can also jump farther after sprinting. I remember it working pretty much like Prince of Persia.
A game that has a similar feel to Another World is Abe's Oddyssee. Really fun game. The sequel is even better.

Re: What was that game where..........?
I kind of remember Prince of Persia looking like it--when it came to motion, at least. Prince of Persia probably came first, so it's probably more accurate to say Another World looked like Prince of Persia. (I'm almost certain Prince of Persia came first, but I'm too Ipsed to look.) I didn't encounter Prince of Persia until way later, though, so I have Another World as my reference point.
