Revenge of the Earthy Chick Rock Cover

We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

I am impressed by this coding power. The mother of Jubboiter is kinda like Skynet!

Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" gets the Earthy Chick treatment. It starts at 1:26.

It turns out the artist's name is Nouela. She has a samey, similarly obnoxious cover of "Sounds of Silence":
It's less of a stretch with "Sounds of Silence." Still, it's telling that Nouela makes "Black Hole Sun" and "Sounds of Silence" sound like first cousins.

I think this is an original:
It has some bite to it. Probably because it's not an Earthy Chick Rock Cover.

This isn't particularly earthy, but it's just as fucking annoying:

Wow, that one is making my ears bleed.
I feel it is worth noting that many men record slowed-down versions of rock songs. It's not exclusive to women. And just like with the female versions, some of them are wretched and some of them are good.

Re: Revenge of the Earthy Chick Rock Cover
We included males in the Corona thread. I was just continuing on using Hicks's terminology from the last time around. His original point was that there seemed to be an explosion of female-recorded rock covers at that point in time. They also stand out more, since it's often a double subversion (genre swap *and* gender swap). There are also female rock groups, of course, so it's not like every rock song covered was written and initially performed by men.
I think the Chris Cornell cover of "Billie Jean" is pretty decent. It's from before the period Hicks was highlighting, but it's in that mode.

My favorite cover song ever is Disturb's version of Tears for Fears 'Shout." Although it's obviously not an earthy chick rock cover.
There's also some band that does heavy metal covers of Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan. I can't remember their name though.

Re: Revenge of the Earthy Chick Rock Cover
Every single fucking time I do a search for something on YouTube, the following video pops up as an ad at the top of the search results. I finally fucking watched the video in hopes of it making the ad go away. So far, so good. Anyway, the video featured a cover of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London." It seemed like it belonged on this page. Here it is:

I lie prostrate.
But I'd never lie about my prostate.

Re: Revenge of the Earthy Chick Rock Cover
I suppose it's technically an earthy chick country cover.
