Brexit

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

That's the point. He isn't in a position to really influence a negotiation anymore but doesn't want TTIP failure on his watch.

It sounds like you're saying he's being disingenuous though and only supporting TTIP because of the politics of it. Or am I misunderstanding? Economic policy definitely isn't my strong suit.

To answer that you have to go further back and look at the Obama administrations genuine lean towards larger trade agreements with blocs rather than individual nations. But this doesn't necessarily serve America best.

US politicians start foaming at the mouth when you mention NAFTA, but they have no problem telling other countries to maintain their free trade agreements.

Exactly, because like good politicians they are looking out for their own rather than everyone else's. Own self interest rules all.

Vote Leave just nailed the televised debate (one of several). This could get messy.

Are the pro-gun nuts jumping on it and saying how it could have been stopped by a good guy with a gun?

I'm seeing a lot more of the smug pieces of shit going "Huh. I thought things like this couldn't happen in countries with strong gun control laws!"

Shot three times and stabbed, died in hospital. However nothing at all (so far) is linked to her EU views or those of the assailant. Political EU views not even mentioned on most of our news outlets. Are your press saying that was the reason?

Something about how he was mentally ill and yelling "Britain First! Britain First!" as he attacked her.

Yes - he wasn't a Brexiter. Britain First is a kind of low-cal, low-rent extreme right-wing fringe movement that attracts the shaven headed and tattooed variety of individual with a perpetually angry face who might own a bull terrier and mortgage arrears. They have a plan for revolution that, as far as I can tell, basically involves posting mildly unkind things about immigrants on Facebook.

As well as the mental illness it is far more likely to be motivated by diametrically opposed views, foreign aid and this MP being nice to brown people than anything to do with the EU.

If it's being reported their as an EU thing then your media have probably got the wrong end of the wrong stick.

Just in case Spuds MacKenzie wasn't a thing in Britain:

That Dick Clark spot is aggressively, defensively heteronormative.

I figure Anheuser-Busch retired Spuds MacKenzie for the same reason R. J. Reynolds retired Joe Camel.
