When is Mrs. Dalty due? It looks like our kids are potentially going to be born only a short time apart - they can be friends! Or at least pen pals, or something.

Jan 22nd is my birthday. If either of you are having a boy AND it's born on that day, I'm going to have to insist you name him Adam.

Are they also allowed to name their girls Adam, or do you insist on heteronormativity?

Rather than naming his child something as mundane as "Man" or "Woman," Goiter went with a completely different species. He didn't even stay within the mammalia class.

It was technically Jubbers's idea. I'm just the guy who made her shake on it.

Already picked if it's a boy. Girl - still debating. For such a flowery and sing-song language Vietmamese sure does seem short of names. "Ho" would be terrible.

We had the opposite problem; still can't decide on which boy name to go with, but we had already picked out a girl name before we knew the baby's sex. What's making the task challenging is that we've decided not to go with any Biblical names, which rules out all the Apostles and angels. We're not being completely unreasonable, so we're mostly avoiding Old Testament names, but pre-Biblical names that later became names of saints and such are fair game.

Anyway, both Adam and Matthew are off the table for that reason.

I had a similar requirement when naming Jubboiter. No Biblical names and no family names.

Did Vespa already shoot down Maximus and Magnus, Mal? I could dig up my totally sweet list of male names, if you want. They were all rejected by Jubbers. Just like my female names. I was mostly only given the illusion of being part of the decision process. Such is life, I guess. I'm not the one who gave birth to the kid, so I suppose it's all right that Jubbers got to choose the name.

"Ho" is pretty awesome for a female name. I can imagine her in an all-female remake of Die Hard. I can imagine one of the original's most famous lines subverted to play off her name: "Now I've got a machine gun, Ho. Ho? Ho!" (At this point, Joanna McClane discovers her fiend and hideout buddy, Ho, being held at gunpoint by Gretel Gruber.)
