WAYWRN: Because there aren't enough characters in this field

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Neither have I. I didn't think it was required viewing.

Folks down south and in remote areas are pretty fond of Tremors.

'Tremors' is awesome; Thursty's way underselling it. Okay, I'm probably overselling it. It's basically the greatest thing you could expect from an intentional B-monster-movie, but part of that is probably not expecting much, so most people's expectations are wildly exceeded. It can be hard to figure out what exactly makes a story work, but some just have that "hook" that pulls you in. I feel like 'Tremors' has it. I was thirteen when I first saw it, and I absolutely loved it. I still like it a lot, though I haven't seen it in years. If it's on Netflix (streaming) I'm going to watch it.

The only thing I undersell is my weight.

We watched a lot of Tremors 2 in my house growing up. I think I've only seen the first one once or twice all the way through, but the sequel seemed like the major movie on repeat on USA and similar cable channels when I was in high school.

Like all good versions of that kind of movie, it's ridiculous, knows it is ridiculous but plays it totally straight which is why it works!

So while quaffing some beers, I watched an old Kirk Douglas movie, Young Man with a Horn, on TCM. Great jazz film, good work all around. There is the required "happy ending," of course, but... no complaints.

Lauren Bacall as a messed-up hipster broad with money who inevitably drives him to alcoholism and despair.

I always had a thing for her.

Old Doctor Who - The Caves of Androzani. Peter Davison just regenerated into Colin Baker before my very eyes. Peachy!

95% of this doesn't appear to have been in the book.

Well.

That was a beautiful film. Incredibly entertaining, beautiful to look at, amazingly made and a great way to spend 2.5 hrs.

And yet...... and yet....... you just can't shake the feeling that 2/3rds of it was superfluous to the whole show. It's a weird one.

The Hobbit films are very good, but they do have a padded feel to them.

Sort of like my resume.

Sort of like everyone's resume Spacey, that's how the world works! Christ, if anyone actually believed mine they would have already hired me to replace God.

Ol' Beau doesn't pad his resume. Then again, he can't even get hired to work at a video store.

The first season is seven episodes long. Thursty and what's-his-face are at opposite ends. If the show were imagined as a road, it would stretch far off soaringly ahead of one, yet wind langorously behind the other. If the two faced one another and peered far into the distance, they each might even catch the merest glimpse of the other, one a tiny far off speck, barely visible, and impossible to discern whether real or imagined, the other a somewhat larger speck, probably impossible to miss.

I am afraid to start watching Breaking Bad. Heard it's a great series but very intense. And I don't know if I can wrap my mind around the dad from Malcolm in the Middle being a druglord.

Just started season 3 of HIMYM on netflix. Also got http://www.pbs.org/arts/programs/superh ... ng-battle/ as a suggestion on NF so I am interested in seeing that.
