Lately I've been told both that I need to watch Boogie Nights and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

These were separate conversations, mind you, it just reminded me of this thread.

Which takes priority?

Butch Cassidy, twice on Sunday's.

You don't *need* to watch it, but I think you'll like it. You may also like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I've mentioned it, too. It's good stuff. It has one of my all-time favorite unconventional chase scenes in it.

Are either as good as 'Jaws'?

According to IMDb, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is better than Jaws. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Jaws is better than Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It's pretty close for both. Boogie Nights is slightly behind both on IMDb. On Rotten Tomatoes, Boogie Nights is considered better than Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid but not as good as Jaws.

On Metacritic, Boogie Nights is the best. It's followed by Jaws. Jaws is followed by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Of course, "better" is a sticky term. None of the sites really claims one movie is better than the other. I'm dealing with scores and rankings. Take them to mean whatever you take them to mean.

Jaws is the best movie. Everything else can die on the alter of inferior movies.

I would pick Butch over Boogie Nights, but that may just be my susceptibility to the starcpower of Redford and Newman.
