Current Non-Annoyance
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

Re: Current Non-Annoyance
I just had the best sushi of my life last night in Singapore.
And right now I am sitting outside at a cafe in Saigon, Vietnam watching the world go by (all of it on a motor scooter apparently!)
This is all very non-annoying.

Re: Current Non-Annoyance
I'm like a novice wine taster when it comes to sushi. I really like sushi, but I can't tell the supposedly mediocre sushi from the supposedly fantastic sushi. It all tastes good to me.
My father used to take me to seaside sushi places and assert that the sushi they had there was infinitely better and fresher than the sushi I'd find in X city inland. I guess, Pops. If that's what you say. This California Roll just tastes like a California Roll to me.
Maybe it's because I didn't grow up with it. In the Deep South, it's considered hoity-toity bullshit, and the people who eat it are considered assholes.
I've had some that was clearly pretty awful. At least I can tell the awful from the mediocre and fantastic.

I think sushi's ok, but I'd never put it at the top of the list of food I want to eat.

For me, it's more along the lines of foods I like when I haven't had them in a while.
The big downside for me is that it always feels like a snack. I can't afford more than a roll or two, which is probably for the best. I suspect that if I ate my fill, I'd be inviting mercury poisoning.

I was exactly the same Goiter, until I came out here. Now I can get all sniffey and poncey and world traveller smug and say that all Sushi I have had in the West is pretty uniformly shit compared to this stuff. That includes LA, SF and San Diego.
I am sure this stuff is out there elsewhere, but I am yet to find it!!

Thanks to my father, I've had a lot of sushi along the US west coast. I've had it in the three cities you mention, in fact. That's the sushi he assured me was the topnotch sushi. Much better, he said, than the Florida sushi. I guess. Tasted the same to me. Hell, even St. Louis and Tuscaloosa sushi tastes the same to me.

Main sources in the UK are supermarkets and Yo!Sushi bars. I will never eat the supermarket variety again.

I eat the supermarket variety on occasion. Tastes pretty much the same to me as the Coastal California sushi.

Current Non-Annoyance:
I got new YTMND shirts today! Max opened the store one last time to sell off his remaining inventory from the glory days of the site, so I jumped at the opportunity to replace my old an worn shirt from 2005 (I ordered two new shirts, just to have another back-up). Here's a comparison of one of the new ones with my old one:
The one on the right is the old one, but the different shade of blue isn't due to discoloration. As you can see from the insert in the bottom right corner, the shirt was about that color when I first bought it. The new ones I ordered are from the second series of shirts that were made, and Max ended up using a different apparel company.
If Max's news post is to be believed, he just keeps these items in plastic bags in his apartment. That makes me sad, for some reason. I did get a bunch of YTMND stickers and decals with the shirts, though, which makes me happy.

Current Non-Annoyance.
I had to call Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama for work yesterday. It was surprisingly delightful. They kept calling me Mr. Adam.

Adam was so shocked by the experience that he texted me about it.

Come now. I don't have your phone number. I just Facebooked you about it the second I got home yesterday. I then went and ran 3.25 miles on very wet sidewalks.
Turns out, when a bunch of snow melts all at once, puddles form. Who knew?

You Facebooked me about it from your phone. I was counting it as texting.
If you want my phone number, I'm willing to give it up.
My phone number, I mean.

Not that I'm usually one to correct you in your own home, Goiter, but I actually Facebooked you from my laptop. Which I then didn't really look at the rest of the night after my run, so I've yet to watch the video that you sent.

Re: Current Non-Annoyance
Look how damned insistent my mother is on getting "Yes, Ma'am" and "No, Ma'am" as responses.
The first forty seconds are taken up with an attempt to elicit a "No, Ma'am" from my step-nephew. The struggle for a "Yes, Ma'am" starts at 2:53 and lasts longer than a minute.
My stepfather's the real star. Check out 1:20-2:22.
I know I posted this years and years ago, but I felt like it was time to revisit it.

Is there any way to track if anyone in the history of the universe has hit that replay button at the end of that video?

No. I assume it's everybody, though.
