The Corona reminiscence thread
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

The Corona reminiscence thread
This is where we recollect memories from both CA1.0 and CA2.0 for discussion. And get all misty eyed.

I remember our Bond Marathon which Negs instigated in the run up to Skyfall.
Good times.
Good times.

I remember that time Dalty made a Random thread when there were already 47 other Random threads floating around that had less than 40 replies in them. Fun times.

Remember that time we got Corona 1.0 shut down for good after most of the people had already left by making tons of romy-isms and having a gay old time? Good times!

Remember that time Jakester made harmless-yet-charming sexual advances toward every girl on every board?

Goiter originally *was* a sock puppet.

What was your very first username?
I'm still not entirely convinced that you and Dalty are different people, for the record.

I can assure you that Beau and I are very, very distinct from one another.
Except for that really cold night. We needed shared heat to survive, there was an accident...... it was a one off.

Wait, I missed that. What happened? We got 1.0 closed by mocking that uppity French knob-jockey?Quasar wrote:Remember that time we got Corona 1.0 shut down for good after most of the people had already left by making tons of romy-isms and having a gay old time? Good times!

Re: The Corona reminiscence thread
I was originally stephenhero. I had a shtick. I started sharing the stephenhero username with a couple friends, who also maintained the shtick. I created God's Swollen Goiter as a way to post more serious stuff, but stephenhero remained my primary account for a while. Eventually, I decided to go full-on God's Swollen Goiter, so I posted my stephenhero password on the Corona 1.0 boards. People played with it for a couple days, but then somebody changed the password and it became inaccessible to everyone. God's Swollen Goiter then became my primary account.
I initially created Thurston McQ to troll msunyata. After a while, I just started using it as a second account. I was a little embarrassed by how often I was posting, so having two accounts offset this a bit. Thurston mostly posted on the non-spoiler Star Wars board, and Goiter usually posted on the spoiler board. Sometimes I'd set up a joke with one and pay it off with the other.
Jedi Magnum shared his AllYourBaseAreBelongtoUs account with me and some others. I think he might have also shared Jack Burton with me, but I can't remember.
UPPER CAPS MAN, Jr. was the next account I created. He was part of the caps army. There were probably ten or so of us. I was never part of the Pooh army. Rory Anthony was. Speaking of Rory, maybe we should invite him. Is he on Facebook?
The Excelsior and Mania message boards disallowed the use of apostrophes in usernames, so God's Swollen Goiter became The Swollen Goiter of God. I was The Swollen Goiter of God and Thurston McQ at Excelsior, but I think I was only Goiter at Mania. Or maybe it was the other way around. I forget. Somebody else created a romy account, but everyone (excepting the person who created the account) assumed I was romy. I denied it, but most felt the denial condemned me as the culprit.
I kept The Swollen Goiter of God when Corona 2.0 happened. I can't remember if it was because of the same apostrophe issue or if it was because I had gotten used to it. I only revived Thurston McQ when I started writing articles for the site. I decided maybe "The Swollen Goiter of God" would be offensive to non-site regulars. Patrick suggested that I go with Beau Watkins, but I didn't want Beau Watkins to get confused with Ol' Beau Watkins.

I like how we tried to make our own space adventure that one time, even if it didn't last very long before the thread got derailed.

Did Jakester make it involve a spaceship shaped like a penis?
I bet he did.

You know, I don't think he did. And now that I've looked at it again, I realize it didn't actually get derailed... it just sort of petered out.

I could bankroll a second mission, but I blew a lot of cash on a new apartment and Cheddar Bay biscuits.
It would have to be on a budget. Also, the catering would be fairly uniform, and biscuit like.
