The Dalty-Cave has broadband!!

Why bother with any other forum?
Forum rules
We once roamed the vast forums of Corona Coming Attractions. Some of us had been around from The Before Times, in the Days of Excelsior, while others of us had only recently begun our trek. When our home became filled with much evil, including the villainous Cannot-Post-in-This-Browser and the dreaded Cannot-Log-In, we flounced away most huffily to this new home away from home. We follow the flag of Jubboiter and talk about movies, life, the universe, and everything, often in a most vulgar fashion. All are welcome here, so long as they do not take offense to our particular idiom.

IE10's not bad. The people who continue to shit on IE probably haven't used it since IE7.

I don't use it much, but I don't have a problem with it when I do.

Back to the shop tomorrow with the reason being that is is an unusable pile of fucking excrement and I am buying a Mac.

Is it fucking difficult to provide a ducking Home button on your browser? Microsoft think so.

I have a home button on my IE browser. It looks like a little house.

Do you mean the Start menu, Dalty?

Did people really use it that much, or are they just freaking out because something they're used to seeing there is no longer there?

Before you give up entirely on Windows 8, go here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... start-menu

I am down with the start menu. It's the home button on IE10 or lack thereof. It's the chippy little tiles. It's the Microsoft account tie. It's the way it handles plug ins like my Citrix receiver so I can log in to the office from home.

The whole thing is a fucking travesty.

Except there is.

I've used IE8 and I wish it could load a goddamn website in less than five seconds. I also wish that the menu bar and tabs at the top didn't take up half my screen.

What are you talking about? I use the Start Menu all the time. How do you get to all your programs otherwise?

I went with a Robert Byrd reference, and Negs went with a Dead Poets Society reference. I'm not sure which is highbrow and which is lowbrow.

It's still shit! A redesign and refresh is fine and dandy. When that refresh takes something and make it 100x more shit than the version it replaces then something is amiss. End of.

I have Windows 7. I thought about downloading Windows 8, but I decided I wasn't an idiot.

I may be an idiot despite having deciding I wasn't, but at least I'm an idiot who still has Windows 7.

I don't feel too bad for the people who get a system with Windows 8 as the default. At least they can find out as they go along what works and what doesn't. I do feel bad for all the people who plopped down their money and upgraded into a world of half-function.

However the laptop has been on 3 times since I bought it. I am on the iPad constantly.

I think Apple and MS might have had a point!

Um, I was referring to the original poem from Walt Whitman. When I was in college I was a first reader for a pretentious student literary magazine that called itself "Barbaric Yawp." Thankfully they did not accept any of my horrible poetry.

I maintain that you were making a Dead Poets Society reference, and I suggest that your "Um" was unnecessarily catty.
